This is the Telkom LIT Android media box

Reason being why you have to side load is because DSTV doesn't have an Android TV version of the app so it won't show up in the play store.

It's fairly easy to sideload since it's similar to your normal Android phone.

The beginning is long, first you have to enable unknown sources, download aptoide tv apk from their website, then load it onto a USB stick which you plug into the box, then install the apk by just selecting it from the USB. Now you will have install sideload launcher from play store in order view and open the sideload apps.

Once all that is done, in future all you will have to do is open aptoide tv and find the app and install then open sideload launcher to open the app.

Ah thought DSTV now is available on Android TV. *hugs my mygica*
 
Showmax : i don't have a subscription , but could watch trailers and it works fine , so sure with subscription the full episodes will work the same.

DSTV Now: like they say this is the android app and not android TV app , so have to sideload , the series plays , and is the same as the mibox app.

Netflix: netflix works - same as dstv , have to sideload app - if you every used android tablet for netflix it is the same.

the positive about the Telkom Box : they said DSTV now will work on the box and Netflix - so have to wait for monochoice to get the updated version of the DSTV now App , not sure if it will be available for the mibox , but Telkom i'm sure will get it just a matter of waiting . same goes for Netflix , sure it is just a simple thing about getting the LIT device added to the DRM allowed list for netflix. there is light at the end of the tunnel. you have a cheap box , with "massive" potential <- (MyBB joke get it massive lol)

it is cheap it does what it says and in time all apps will come and be supported on the device , alot more pros than cons on the device.

it has android 7 , will wait and see if mibox get android 7.

So it is the exact same model that Cyber Range sells and they offer 1 year warranty as opposed to 6 months with Cyber Range and they are R100 cheaper.

I've tried that on my R-Box now. Aptoide install as well as Sideload Launcher. I was able to install DSTV Now too, but Sideload launcher doesn't create a Icon anywhere on my device. And when I try to launch it after it's finish installing, it wont run eiter.

I'm receiving my Mi Box tomorrow from TVME, it shipped this morning . Looking forward to it and thus far it's been a really good experience buying from TVME , very helpful and were prepared to answer all my questions. I got them to sideload the DSTV now app etc for me , so I'll be able to just plug in tomorrow and I should be ready to go .

Picked mine up from Menlyn now after a lot of arguing. They absolutely refused to sell it to me cash, telling me no Telkom store is allowed to sell cash and these are only available on contract. Luckily i did some calling before i went to the shop as I've learnt from previous experiences. Called the call centre, handed the phone to the consultant and all of a sudden its fine to purchase cash. I wonder how many people have been forced to sign a 24 month contract over a lie!

They did not even know what I was talking about when I asked them about the LIT box when I went to try and buy one , I would have most probably got one had it not been for their pathetic service , I just find it rediculous that you cannot phone the store to ask if they have stock and you have to physically go there just to enquire . In the end I just settled on the MiBox .

You don’t have to sideloap Netflix on the Mibox. DSTV Now sideloaded and works fine.

I think if the Lit comes with an official androt tv DSTV Now app, it will also be available for the Mibox on the Google Play Store.

Get TV Repo from the Play store and your Icon will be on your home screen.

On the Mibox I can go to Settings, Apps, downloaded app and open the app from there.
