This PC good for gaming?

I was going to get the Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L (+/- R1k), but they had no stock, then the GA-P35-DS3L(+/- R1.2k), but was posed with waiting 2 weeks or taking my current board for the same price.

In retrospect I wish I had waited, cos these blasted Nvidia chipsets don't accept 45nm Quads!!! Which was contrary to what they stated at the time!!Bastards...

P.s. The P31 doesn't like to have all 4 dimm slots populated (I believe due to the P35/ICH7 combo), but is a monster-budget-OC'er.

I see what you mean, the 610i does not support 45Nm CPU's - bummer :(

Ah-Ha! the P31 does - R300 more for that and to OC'

Although this is a sacrifice you will have to make 45Nm Support/No Support, as I see it no Support is not a huge problem cause I wont be able to afford them for a long time to come.

The P31 is only about R300 more so if you want OC' compatibility in a mATX with 45Nm support it's for you!!

The P31 is ATX, however slightly undersized, but still ATX.

The G31 is micro, but doesn't OC well, as with most micro-ATX boards.

I OC my CPU just a little bit (30%) on stock cooling and stock voltage. Can push it higher definitely if I have the time to fine tweak the settings.

Wow, you guys can really fight! MrE what do you think of your CPU? Do you have a 3D Mark Score?

I can't remember the exact score, but it was around 2500.

Overall was just over 6000.

Mine was fine on stock voltage up to about 2.7, bt to maintain 3.0 it requires the extra .075v

i dunno mre you missed out man

the e6320 i took from 1.86 to 3.22ghz stable 24/7

that cpu was by far the best overclocker in the intel range

pity u cant buy them anymore from suppliers
