This PC good for gaming?

i dunno mre you missed out man

the e6320 i took from 1.86 to 3.22ghz stable 24/7

that cpu was by far the best overclocker in the intel range

pity u cant buy them anymore from suppliers

Sounds good dude!

What do have at the mo?

Would love an E8400!

e8400

for a 45nm i cannot get past 4.05ghz without temps rising alot

very disappointing from an overclocking point of view, i thought 45nm would overclock better, maybe the e8500 is the boy :)

That is expected for the E8400, I just read a review that also got to 4.05.
Anything above and the performance vs. heat & power consumption just doesn't make sense at all.

The 1 review of a E8500 I read got it up to 4.3, ..so it would be stupid to get one of those for 300 more MHz.

You've got a peach dude! Try not to succumb to the "grass is greener" trap! ;)

How much voltage u running?

was running mine at 4.29 last night at 1.45 load temp 71 with a TR 120 backed back down to 4.05 but no stability with 1.35V.. Need to work out what all these other voltages are on the Maximus :(

Had to change 22 things in bios to get any sort of stability, i am just not used to that much tweaking :)

got 69k in 2001 with an overclocked 8800gt but 2006 only 13.4k :(

amd lost the price vs performance thing long ago man

there is no a cpu that amd offers that intel does not match in price and beat in performance

how is amd still better value, they charge the same for slower bad overclocking cpu's

intel match amd's pricing, beats them in performance and their cpu overclock really well

im sorry i dont see how amd is good value anymore

For all the non enthusiasts out there (99% of the pc world) who do not overclock then AMD is still a good buy at certain price points.

For those of us that watch bleach... BWAHAHAHAHA!

*cry's when I see the 4.0Ghz mark on the E8xxx :D*
IMO, for a realy cheap good quality overclockable CPU a E2160/80 is the best!!

I just picked up a 2160 this afternoon. A pointer on how to OC it on a Asus Mb would be appreciated.

Dude, you're a dork. It is SO easy. No one said you HAVE to. Wait.. what is your point!? Oh right, you don't have one, ..riight.
What's with the attitude anyway!?
Lame.
My point is that you CAN play most games on an very cheap AMD (with a decent graphics card). I just don't like people saying 'don't buy AMD it's crap' - Well it's not, 'cos I've got AMD and Intel and prefer my AMD setup, but I will never tell guys not to buy Intel, it's their personal choice. As for overclocking, I think most people just do it for fun ... and bragging rights .. lol.

Dork.

Just go to your BIOS and see if there is any option for overclocking available (or read your manual's BIOS section). Apparantly if you want to OC E21XX you need to mod your CPU? I do not use this one so can not confirm.

Um how can I put this, let's seee.. \_-!!NO IT ISN'T!!-_/

LOL, yep, no it isn't. Stay away from AMD right now, rather go for one of the new 45nm CPUs from Intel. And did I mention stay away from AMD right now? Perhaps they will come up with something better in a few months but they are lagging badly behind Intel atm in both price and performance.

Intel E8400 the GUY?

At the begin of the tread I thought of the E2180 but now I am thinking that the E8400:D could be a lot better. Where can I buy this baby for the cheapest price :p and do you have any experience with the shop.(online, unless you guys know of a gr8 shop in Bloem)

A little OC

I still have a Pentuim D 3.4 GHz in on of my PC's. Do you guys think that I could reach 4GHz with it:p? I'm using an ordinary Intel MB.:( What do you think dangerous temps. would be?
