^^ :erm: Don't even bother now. Just pay attention when the new rules are published sometime next month (according to sjm).

Not sure how you guys do it -

Eg, I have Cheque account on Level 2, and Credit Card on Level 2.
I also have a Bond.

I'm on Discount Level 3 currently. According to FNB 2+1 bonus for Bond = 3

I'm not sure how you guys make it to 18k a year?

If I look at how i got this:
Credit Card -
Staying up to date with your FNB Credit Card payments - 150
Not exceeding your FNB Credit Card limit - 150
Doing at least one financial transaction during the month via Online Banking, Cell Phone Banking or the FNB Banking App 50
Using your monthly straight credit balance effectively 50
Using FNB's value-added services and products 50
Withdrawing certain minimum amounts of cash from ATMs, and not depositing and withdrawing cash from FNB branch 200
Shopping with your FNB Credit Card 200
---
Total 850.
Your current 12 month rolling points = 11,125.

Cheque Card -
Having an active FNB Credit card 100
Having an active Smart Device Tablet, Smartphone or Laptop contract 300
Having an insurance product like Optional Debt Protection, Smart Device Insurance and Roadside Assistance 100
Receiving monthly Email statements only 100
Keeping your account open and active for three years or more 100
Not transacting at an FNB branch (you used FNB's electronic channels instead) 100
---
Total 800
Your current 12 month rolling points = 10700

Seems like its impossible for me to hit 18k on either of them without spending a lot more money over a year.

Have active savings pocket with miniumum R2000 is 300 points.
Withdraw more at till than atm is 300
Swiping card during the month instead of cash I would say you will minimially get 150. (i get around 250-300 points each month and I don't spend much.)

That already takes your points to 1550. That for 12 months will get you to 18k.

Ohter options: Temporary loan (300 points). On R300 rand you pay back 350 so basically its a R50 hit to you. Insurance products might be cheaper. (overdraft, revolving loan is also a option)

But as stated above, wait till August and see what changes come in to effect.

Let's first break it down :

PS. This is the abbreviated version, in quotes- As long as you understand just this basic rule - they calculate points to determine what level you are on, this eBucks Rewards Level in turn determines the rate at which your transactions(spend/purchases) is calculated at to determine the amount of eBucks you've earned.

So like this Points 19000 = Level 5(eBucks) = 15% on Fuel . Petrol for the Month R2500 x 15% = eBucks 375. Simplistic example, but hope it helps to clear up.

Inorder for your to earn eBucks, you first need to be placed at a specific level. This level will determine the rate at which they will calculate how much eBucks you will be rewarded with

Number of points you need to accumulate to reach a certain reward(reward level does not mean you've equal eBucks earned) level
Reward Level 1 = 0 Points
Reward Level 2 = 12000
Reward Level 3 = 16000
Reward Level 4 = 18000
Reward Level 5 = 19000

How does one accumulate these points: See all the ways you can get reward level points What you can do to collect points Points per month

Yadda... it's all listed on the linky clicky.

Once you've then accumulated your points , they set about determining your level.

Once this level has been determined, they will then go over your transactions and then calculate your eBucks actually earned at the rate applicable to your level. This will then be what they inform you as your eBucks earned for the month. The rate for the purchases with your Credit card is at a higher rate than your normal cheque account (I too have now opted to obtain a credit card)

See as per below:
Notes:
The reward rate on qualifying Cheque Card shopping purchases will be half of the above reward rates and Cheque Card purchases do not earn eBucks on purchases above R30 000 (with the exception of FNB Private Clients Business Cheque cards)
The reward rate on qualifying Cheque Card grocery purchases will be half of the above reward rates and Cheque Card purchases do not earn eBucks on purchases above R15 000 (with the exception of FNB Private Clients Business Cheque cards)
Even if you have not qualified to start earning eBucks yet or you do not have a reward level yet, you can still earn 0.5% back in eBucks from purchases made at Checkers & Shoprite when using your FNB Private Clients Cheque Account or Credit Card.

The rest will follow this same setup as per the Private Clients setup.

As you can see just doing basic things, will allow you to reach a higher level - without too much fuss or difficulties.

So basically, use your credit card for your all your purchases, just transfer money from your cheque card to it. Continue using your cheque card for fuel purchases,

With your credit card, take a linked petro card and a secondary card - then you're well on your way. Should you have a mobile device plus insurance for it through FNB, then you're virtually done and dusted, level 5 (19000 points - not eBucks) in no time.

19000 reward level points are yours - you reach the eBucks Reward level 5 without too much hassle.

I already have most of that though.

I have a device (iPad), I have insurance on it, I have a Bond, I have a Credit Card, Cheque Card. Have overdraft facilities.
I've been an FNB client for 20+ years, grrr.

I'll start to use the Cheque card for fuel purchases. I use the card for pretty much everything, and pay it off before the end of the month already. Savings Pocket - not sure its worth wasting 2k sitting there for that.

Maybe I need to verify my address every month, as literally thats the only suggestion it has in there for improving values.

What package type do you have? Gold and Platinum is only changing from October, Private Clients are on the new earn.

Just called them, apparently the R5 roadside assistance option is no longer an option. It only comes with a petrol card linked to a credit card. Can anyone confirm?
Nope, I still have it and it's still in the yearly pricing book.

hmmm hope changes is not to bad, really love being at lvl5 on plat.

loads of ebucks and a free 4mps uncapped acccount

On a related note, did you guys notice that Sportsmans Warehouse is no longer a "Discounts" gift card eBucks partner anymore. Just when I wanted to buy some Reebok trainers from them now they are no longer an option eBucks gift cards :(

That leaves only Dischem which is of any use to me.

I'm reading this thread and thinking the same.

I've also got Bond, Platinum Cheque, Platinum Credit and Smart Device (PS4) and I'm apparently at Level 1 for both Cheque and Credit >.<

A few months after being on ebucks, I asked the bank about it.....and they said my ebucks account was not activated on my account despite it appearing on my statements. Ended up bitching to the manager, and they enabled it and credited me my lost ebucks.

Wait another day or two :)

New rules will almost definitely have you better off. Only applicable from October though, as iDOL said. You'll start hearing about them in the next few weeks.

Certainly hope so.

Looking at the current private account ways of earning points it looks like it will be much harder to reach level 5 from October onwards. :(

I am also slightly worried, but I guess we should trust those on the forums who are in the know. Those in the know says it will be easier to get to level 5. Lets wait for the announcement and see how it affects us. I doubt FNB will dramatically change it and risk losing clients.
