Hello Chaps :)

I've been in a bit of a dilemma of late. My main PC (in sig.) is about a year and a half old to date and I've been craving an upgrade, basically the cpu and gfx card perhaps (and case, got a very basic one :o). Now the problem is that the mobo was a 'greed' purchase with no future proof thought put into it :( i.e. the P5n32e sli doesn't take the 45nm quad

However I noticed, from a another post last night, that the P5KPL (which is dirt cheap compared to my present one, dammit) takes alles - well all the new 45nm chips (dual & quad). My current set has never been 'oclocked 'cos of guarantee and basically there was no real need to do so. From very light research on the net the general consensus is that any quad lower than the Q9xxx is a no go.

I want to get the P2350 (from PC Zone), a new case and probably a new gfx card, I do game every now and again. I'm not a true gamer, like many of you are :o.

So can you guys please help me decide, should I just stay with my current set up or do I sell the mobo and Q6600 and get the P5KPL and probably the Q9400? I want to keep the 2232GW as I would like to run dual monitors, but there again the resolution would be too distinct with both monitors together - ur thoughts on that issue as well please.

Thank you all in advance :)

Not an expert on CPUs, but the monitors I can help you with. I have a 2232GW as well. What do you mean by too distinct?

Hmm, just assumed that being a new spec. the P2350 would sorta stand out next to my present one. I also note that the P2350 is 50K:1. I'm also not sure, neither am I q'd up on the HD side :o.

Can you enlighten my please hj2k :)

It's also a full inch bigger so you will see the difference.

I have a 226BW and a 2232GW next to each other. They are very different looking monitors but with a bit of tweaking, I have the actual picture on the monitor looking identical. So that should not be a big issue. You can always sell the 2232GW and put some money towards another P2350 :)

Hello Chaps :)

I've been in a bit of a dilemma of late.

*snip Blah Blah Blah Blah /snip*

Here is what you do.

Sell your 2232GW & 8600GT.

Buy a Samsung 2494HS (R2199) & XfX 4890 1GB (R2500?) from PC Zone.
Buy a Cooler Master Hyper TX2 (R260?) cooler from wherever and OC your CPU to about 3GHz.

If this is not sufficient then you have not wasted any money and still have the option for a CPU&MB later one.

Keep the Q6600, get a new board, CPU cooler (Hyper TX2/3) and overclock that sucka.

Upgrade GPU.

Screen seems fine to me, new case if you must.

TY hj2k_x, nah I'm saving towards the P2350 and I wanna have dual monitors. I've always admired Labanimal's setup, his got three 2333's. So how is the picture quality while watching a HD movie?

Prophecy also have the 4890 for R2400.
