I'm in the market now also for a good GPS solution, my basic needs:
ETA estimation - Google has this as well as many other apps, so not worried
Current Speed Indicator - Surprisingly, none of the free alternatives I have tried has this
Speed Limits - Again same as above, seems to be premium content
Speed traps - This would be a bonus

Anyone know of a well priced app that can handle all this? I know Tom-Tom and Garmen should be able to handle this, any other suggestions?
Navigon (Garmin) does most of what you want quite well. You can try Sygic for free for a week - it seemed to do those things. I just thought the maps I used in the last week weren't as up to date as the Garmin maps. The interface on Sygic is marginally better than Navigon, but both are clunky. Navigon tries too hard to emulate a stand alone GPS.

I want to start a dedicated smartphone GPS thread when I get back home, as this one has been totally derailed.

Navigon gets my vote.
