TopTV cant keep up with demand

Come to think of it, I want TopTV to go ahead moer fast. Then MC can bring down their prices.

Same here, but MC wont bring down their prices unless current subscribers either put the subscriptions on hold or move completely to TTV.

Now is the time to vote with your wallet/feet ;)

If TTV fails then we will still be where we are and even worse, they (MC) will up the price again like they just did a month ago.

If TTV moves on and up, somethings gotta give, just check what happened with uncapped Internet :D

Multichoice just got slapped in the face :)

Ive hade a decoder since 11am on Saturday....i still have not managed to get through to the call center.....

starting to get bleek..

50,000 decoders sold in 1 day! ---------- This proves that the research that 20-30% of DSTV subscribers are seriously disgruntled is real. Furthermore according to the classic consumer adoption process another 13.5% are early adopters who jump at something new. On a more classical note we see typical market reaction to an entrenched monopoly (Porters 5 forces) with 1) a New Entrant and 2) the Treat of a Substitute both coming into play simultaneously.

I believe the reaction of DSTV is too little too late, look forward to the hearing what the announcement will be at the end of the month. These are the guys who can afford to give away decoders and installations but choose to create a weak offer (mainly free channels) for R99 a month on debt order.

As for Super5 opportunity lost unfortunately By that time toptv and DSTV will have locked any available content and satellite space, so unless the decoders are able to receive cold beer and hot pizza digitally they are out of the running shame...

It will be interesting to see what will happen when S5M launch. I believe they will be making an announcement in two months time. I wonder if they are ******** themselves.

The TopTV call centre is also buckling under the strong demand from consumers. TopTV spokesperson Melinda Connor has confirmed that the call centre is experiencing very high load – around 1000 calls per hour – and the 40 call centre agents can simply not keep up with the call volumes.

This was always going to be a bottleneck? Hope they can sort it out soon.

A side note: if all 50,000 only take the basic package @ R 99 p/m, they're already starting a tidy turnover of approx. R 5 million p/m - nice! :)

Eish those channel look horrid, WTF are people seriously paying for some of those channels?

Damn give us toptv sport 250 a month and MC can kiss my arse :D.

how does one go about paying per channel with DSTV?

I think it was like R17 per channel. I'd rather pay the minimal subscription and pay up to R200p/m to watch the 10 channels that i want to watch.

50,000 in 1 day? Assuming a 12 hour day that 4166 / hour or 69 / minute or just over 1 per second.... DAMN!

Wonder how their call center / new IT systems kept up with that volume and didnt crash.

Still haven't heard any feedback from anyone who's got TTV.. What's it like??

S5M don't seem to be in a hurry to launch anything. In fact if you can decipher the corporate gobbledygook the opposite appears more likely,
Super 5 Media’s focus is to provide converged services in the Information, Communications and Entertainment environment in order to stimulate demand for entertainment services in South Africa.
What ever that may mean, isn't it they are the preferred supplier of infrastructure for IPTV a little monopoly all on their own. Don't expect them to enter the competitive payTV market if they can guarantee a market & customer through this middle man pie they got.

If TTV can provide sports like DSTV can, and DSTV quite possibly has one of the best in supersport then it will be a real coin toss with whome to go for. If TTV can bring out a HD dual view PVR with DSTV's sports. Then for most people its gonna be a no-brainer( ofcourse at a reasonable price) S5M is gonna make stuff interesting.

Well hopefully when I get home my TOPTV is already setup and running! Installer was supposed to come out today.

I almost got caught by their marketing. I want Fox badly and was ready to sign up in a heart beat. Then discovered it's not the "live" version. I just hope Top Tv informed the the new subscribers before hand.

Is it too much to hope for DStv to ***** their pants and give us more options because they are running scarred?
