SAT-R US charging me R350 cancellation fee

Anyway they could only install my TOP-TV today and I found another company to install it yesterday. I contacted SAT-R US this morning canceling the installation.

Only to be told I will now be charged R350 for canceling!

Strange that TopTV say they sold all their decoders in 6 hours on 1 May 2010, but there are reports of people still buying the next day :wtf:

I bought my decorder at 9:11am from PEP @ Quagga Shopping Centre in Pretoria West. I have been trying to get through to them since yesterday morning to get my installation done, without a success. What pisses me most is that at one point you go through, wait for over 30 minutes and then you're told to leave a message a consultant will get back to you. YOU leave a message and until today I'm still waiting for the response. For a person using a prepaid cellphone to make these calls it's costy. Their line hasn't been going through since yesterday "NETWORK BUSY" .. I tried a public phone and still I'm experiencing the same problem. What made things worse was that they said their customer service opens: 7am till 11pm. Now they've reduced the times even with such backlog? Why have only 30 call centre agents, when 50,000 of their products are in the shelves? They knew with their price there will be a huge demand. They had to be prepared for it. I honestly think if they had let us buy installation vouchers rather for accreditated installers to claim (like DSTV). We wouldn't have this problem. I called 3 of our local installers and they told me they were not busy yet, but I know but the time I get through to TOPTV, I will have to wait until the end of the month to get my TOPTV installed and activated.

This is really frustrating. I know we are supposed to allow them space during their "teeting problems" which I think it's "gum problems" ... but CUSTOMER SERVICE is what matters most for us.

I just tried that, and it doesn't want to go through either. This is really frustrating. Especially when one has been waiting for this with so much anticipation. I was at the sop 8:45am before they open. Got my decorder at 9:11am ... and I still haven't got installed. Mxm!

Hi Lino, do I have to get through to TOPTV first before I get it installed like yourself? Or can I just get a company to do it for me?

I did get through and the call costed me around R30 for around 40minutes of talk time - world call told me how much I spent - only had like R4 left on the card - now I won't call them I am sorted out - even asked for my Customer Number and Account Reference - Haha guess what reference I was given in the 4000 region to give to the installer and my account reference is in the region of 400

You first have to contact TOP-TV, sign up give them all your particulars. Request a customer number from them.
Then phone up an ODM approved installer and schedule the installation. You must give the installer your customer number if TOP-TV doesn't give you one, you can give the installer your ID number. However most important you must have signed up with TOPTV first!

Word of advice to everyone that signs up with TopTv ask the consultant for your Client Number - a unique number that is associated with your details and number 2 Depending on payment method ask them for the account reference - when you deposit at the bank

Another thing I would recommend everyone to get a Telkom world calling card - you can phone from any public phone or land phone. Includes a toll-free number - I spent easy around R100 on phone calls or more on TopTv alone. Telkom must be so happy - First time I am calling for personal stuff :((

Also when speaking to the installer mention TopTv and ask if their are no cost associated etc. Remember it includes the Dish, Mounting Pole, LNB and Cabling ( All supplied by TopTv to the installer). The only thing the installer gets paid for is labour

Yes up and running no issues! Review is coming soon

how does one go about paying per channel with DSTV?

I think it was like R17 per channel. I'd rather pay the minimal subscription and pay up to R200p/m to watch the 10 channels that i want to watch.

I don't think they could do that. When they introduced DSTV Select, I thought that would happen. Cos' honestly I would just subscribe to only: "Superport Channels, MNET, Movie Magic 1, Movie Magic 2 & Channel O" and subscribe fully to TOP TV :)

I heard rumours that DSTv will now be adding another 10 channels to their bouquet. If I had the option with DSTv to select the channels I wanted I'd sign-up with them right away

Dam, i have been calling ever 3 seconds since 7:50 and bam at 8:03(my time) the call desk opened, now i am 10mins and holding... :( come on man.......

Hi Ryansta, thanks for trick it helped a lot. I've set my phone on redial and put on speaker phone & charger to redial every 3 seconds :) and walah, I got through and managed to speak to a consultant. I've called my installer and he said hopefully if the weather clears up. He will be coming to me after 4 installations. I've spend over R100 for the call & leaving endless messages. Mxm!
