TopTV PVR plans

No need if they continue to do repeats like they are, if you have missed something you will see it in a week or so.

*Sorry*

I frequently disconnect from DSTV when it gets too boring - On for a month, and off for two.... However, when I do so, I cannot watch any recorded shows on their PVR. This makes their PVR useless as far as functionality is concerned (TopTv take note), and I am thinking of getting some sort of TV recorder and a plain non-pvr DSTV set.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for??

The best option in your situation is to downgrade to the R20 p/month package to watch the recordings. You'll still have to pay the R65 though, so will be R85 p/m

Hi Smurf, That is an out-of-the-box option which I never considered. Thank you.

However, I would then be paying R85pm for an unwatchable load of rubbish, just to watch my recordings. This is therefore a short-term solution.
I am looking for an option which does not cost money to watch something which I have already paid.

Nevermind PVR.. get HD..

-1 :p PVR means I don't need to be watching telly 24/7 or have to set up the recorder all the time ... and get a snotklap from my missus for recording the wrong 'un :D

The article is not really newsworthy, it's the same stuff they have been churning out all over the place for about a month now. And news of the PVR plans for 2011 were reported in the begining (only now it's just confirmation I guess???)

Seriously? From paying R600 a month to just R100 seems reasonable.

You will NOT get an integrated PVR like the one that it is, simple reason is multiple-choice what's to control us (to explain like to record a series) if you what tou can set up all your times on PVR program (you wont have DSTV guide) and leave the tv on that channel

looks like mybb is going all out to creat some non-newsworthy articles about toptv...this week's articles about toptv are not new nor informative,i suspect one of mybb mods is a share holder

That's EXACTLY what Windows Media Center is perfect for! Absolutely zero fees to anyone to watch your recordings.

How would a 20 gig top tv pvr fair againest a 20 gig dstv pvr in terms of amount of hours record-able?

Actually TOPTV said PVR functionality may become available from September 2010, so by now saying 2011 its a announcement that its been delayed and we can expect it next year. As to the new channels, why would that not be newsworthy?

Actually TTV said from the outset that they would have PVR functionality by Feb 2011 but that the USB port would be activated round about November. We all then speculated that we may get limited recording functionality once that was done.

The rest of the press covering television
started to foam at the mouth days
after I broke the news RIGHT HERE
at the beginning of the week about
On Digital Media (ODM) having
passed 120 000 TopTV decoders in
the market . Having been there, done
that, I can tell you that TopTV is planning to
launch its PVR (personal video recorder)
functionality in 2011 . . . and I can be first to tell
you a little something about how that will work.
A lot of TopTV subscribers looked at their current
TopTV set top boxes (STB) and noticed some
''holes'', well, let me tell you one of those ports
are going to be extremely integral to the new PVR
functionality. TopTV subscribers who want to get
PVR functionality will not necessarily have to get a
new TopTV STB...-teeveetee.blogspot.com
