Not that it worries me (i still have an old square TV), but this is an interesting question. I cant see people with R10 000 or for that matter R30 000's worth of Flat Screen TV's being satisfied with a square picture.
How stupid must a company be to have that happen?? Will never happen not even in Africa

We still have an old TV with plenty of life in it. It's pretty square, but we're not too concerned about that. TopTV is aimed at the lower strata, as you can see with the African content, Indian management and prices.

Does that mean they have to give you a square picture on a wide screen?? Middle and lower income group target market shouldn't mean sugar-coated-sheat-balls.

This doesn't make sense to me - they're launching on May 1st but they don't want you to buy the product until they've already launched. So I'll miss out on the first episodes of tonnes of shows because they want to keep it all secret?

Will people be happy to buy decoders and install dishes but there is nothing to watch until launch? So a big blank screen on your complete installation.

Jirra people can moan... did you have a DSTV dish and everything ready and working and sitting there for days before they even broadcasted anything?

SuperSport,Sky NZ and Fox AUS has signed a deal with SANZAR to retain broadcasting rights of all SANZAR rugby till end of 2015. So its still DStv for rugby fans

DSTV Running scared - see they advertise a box and dish + installation for R699 inclusive. Trying desperately to grab a last few suckers.

They can run as scared as they like...

If ODM have decent content and its broadcast in 16:9 I will very possibly change to them....

ooo....... I love it.........

So I guess anyone who has any package less than the Premium with NoChoice is changing to TopTV?

And those with PVR, HD & duel View is staying..... cause they can afford it?

Can anyone indicate how many of the 1,65million Nochoice subscribers is on the packages lower than Premium?

There are about 80000 HDPVR subscribers...

But to be honest, at the price difference.. IF TopTV's content is on a par with Multichoice then even the Premium (non-sport lovers) subscribers might shift...

I am thinking MC are watching things relatively closely atm...

Well. I just spoke to one of their reps. Apparently May 1st is not actually when they start broadcasting, but rather when they launch their company..?
The rep could not tell me when they will actually start broadcasting.

Ah well, whats an extra month or two when we've waited so long already? As long as they don't come out with a bang and end in a fizzle.

When I got my DSTV it was 399 inclusive of installation & dish and that was way before TopTV appeared on the horizon.
