I still have fond memories of the time one of my clients had something like this powering a ZIP drive connected to a server via USB.
They always had issues with the adapter so he just chopped the adapter off and wired a plug right into the lead...
The server that he cooked when he plugged it back in cost over R100k.

Argh.

So I started redoing a few plugs around here and simply things. I see the sides of most our 2 prong are triangle... Yet I've got a few square that don't fit.

That's for the triangle sides and some of my plugs are square - so they don't fit in

Where'd you get these funny plugged devices?

Anyway, would be nice is someone made new standard 3 prong multiplugs (would work for 2 prongs by default) and also new standard 3 prong extension cables.

I’ve recently started opening up the afapters and rebuilding into enclosures with a short lenght of wire and a three prong plug. Makes cable management a breeze

On the topic why aren’t modular multiplugs with larger gaps a thing?

Every single multiplug fails in some way by forcing it all on top of each other.

Either make them wider with sockets further apart or just make them modular so I can construct it as I need to.

Deliberate move to prevent too many devices on one socket

Yup, or use a UK multiplug

You just have to stick a knife into the earth to open the flappy plastic thingies

Hmm wonder if one could 3D print something like a frame that you push in that opens the earth but leaves the live and neutral open too so you can plug the 2-prong in.

I just stick a flat head screwdriver in there.
