Anyone know why for the last week or so my speed as been ****ter than the Trainspotting toilet whilst the little lights on my modem maintain their 5-star brilliance;

and,

how do I get out of a 2-year contract? Do I have to buy the modem? At full price?

With regards to contracts, there are a few forumites on this forum who managed to pull that off, I ask them to respond here.

With regards to your current problem, if you can provide me some detail as to where you are located, your set-up (router, etc..) I can try and help resolve your speed issues.
 
Well usually if your signal remain strong but the performance takes a hit it would be because of network issues and upink providers etc.

But for over a week I doubt this is the case. Either your signal has in fact worsened, but the briliant lighting system on your modem does not really show it (though if you have 5 strat it couldnt have degraded much) or you are on a bad IP or some other problem.

Are you still experiencing bad speeds atm? You can try reseting your modem and check if that helps at all.

Well, honeslty I dont really know what it could be without seeing your connection. Whcih tower do you connect to? If it is blairgowrie my apologies.. but how do you guys live with stupid names like that.

So your connection was fine once opun a time and now its one to ****.. well i geuss you'll have to try get a techie to come check it out.
Or post anything you think could be affecting your connection and see if anyone can help you out.
There havent been any big developments between you and your tower latley?
 
Yes, in JHB, and yes, I connect to Blairgowrie tower.

No big developments either. Strange. Maybe it will "magically" improve like it "magically" deteoriorated.

but seriosuly, phoning up Iburst or your reseller to come check it out isnt a bad idea, they might at keast acknowlege a problem.
 
I called helpdesk yesterday morning and they told me there is a problem on the tower I connect to and that it was being sorted.

Checked the incident report later and they said it was fixed but my connection was slower than trickle

Last night at about 11:30 jhb was deteriorated all over the place flashing red dots on most of the towers on the network status page.

This morning google wouldn't even open. And what does the network status say? Green everywhere...

What’s going on iburst? :confused:

What is iBurst network maintenance window?
A weekly network maintenance window exists, during which time, network outages may or may not occur.
This maintenance window occurs on a weekly basis, starting at midnight Wednesday, and lasting up to Thursday morning 3:00am.

Wow... now that sucks, must be a problem with their network then. If you are getting 5 lights it cant be your connection.

Well for a start crap isnt banned, prety much everythig else is, you have to use l33t for it. Some afrikaans is banned too... **** *** naai ****
Except coloured afrikaans.. let the gangster in you loose i geuss.
 
This seems like a very stupid suggestion but I suppose all input could be good? oh well.. :p what if you just got capped?
