Ubuntu 11.10

My excuse for buying my PS3 was because I could not play descent game son my Linux distro

LOL....I bought one because I wanted a blu-ray player, a media server, music jukebox, photo storage, etc. but also cos I got fed-up with constantly having to download graphics drivers for my pc. And the sound and screen in my living room is SO much better than earphones with my pc.

But it was the copy of Killzone 2, included with my PS3, that just made it extra sweet. ;)

Haven't played with Ubuntu for a yea now, think i'll grab a copy and drop it on a virtual box. I must agree with the comments here about 6 month cycles, that would get very irritating if it was my main OS.

I'll thinking of using this "Guest Session" for logins in a lab over here.

Question is, since every single session spawns a new "Guest" of sorts, all programs in the Launcher reverts to the standard firefox, libreoffice, etc. layout.

Is there anyway to have a standard layout for the Launcher which I set and all subsequent Guest Sessions have said layout? Tips for further customisation of guest sessions would be welcome as well.

Should be as easy as copying some of the configs over to the guest profile.

Finally am running 11.10, am happy so far, Unity does take some getting used to, but have installed Synaptic and the old "Classic Menu". Just need to get my gfx and sound up and running, and all will be peachy :D

Decided to game in Windows and do everything else in Ubuntu with this system. Will never in my life buy a console if I can help it, so that is my only option.

Remember, good news, for most. 12.04 LTS will have 5 year support.
At the moment my main distro is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, followed closely by Scientific Linux 6.1 and Kubuntu 11.10
Kubuntu 12.04 LTS will likely replace my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Just don't like Unity interface which is really for smart phones imho.

Just installed 11.10:confused: I must admit I've never run any linux for longer that a month, but I'm disgusted by unity. I guess my search for the 'perfect' distribution is going to continue a bit longer...:erm:

Upgraded a few days back, also just tried gnome3 on it, went right back to the unity desktop.

Not bad, takes a bit of getting used to though.
