My department has received a batch of new computers. All are running windows 7 enterprise on Compaq 8200 Elite SFF pcs, Intel Q67 chipset. It has (U)EFI.
I would like to dual-boot with Ubuntu. Unfortunately, during install when attempting to manage partitions ("Something Else" option), the install does not see the existing windows intallation at all. It just shows me a raw 500GB hdd (only hdd in pc) with absolutely no partitions.
I googled a bit, will be trying things. Just wondering if anyone else has come across something like this before. I want to blame EFI, but it may just be that the disk imaging was a bit buggy.
Concerning the EFI, and the little experience I had on the subject:
EFI can detect which type of OS you can boot into during boot order config (you may see Windows/Linux boot as options in your BIO...wait, EFI. Damn this force of habit!). However, I set it to boot up in legacy mode on SATA0.
UPDATE: gdisk says the MBR is valid but the GPT is corrupt. Apparently gdisk may be able to fix this. Does anyone have experience with gdisk?
