Hmmm, so far I'm not that impressed with Unity, I'll hold off on the upgrade on the other PC's till I have made up my mind.

This will mean I'll have to shift from Ubuntu to another distro if I cannot come to terms Unity. I know you can go with the Gnome shell, but AFAIK Ubuntu is not too keen on keeping Gnome bleeding edge and it will be stuck on Gnome 2 for a while to come. Hmmm, I read somewhere that you can find some repos for Gnome 3 for Ubuntu, maybe I should try that...
Eish...

Just completed my upgrade, I rather like Unity takes a bit of getting used to, but seems a nice logical progression of the old archaic menuing system weve all been stuck with for years

I must say Gnome 3 is even more bizarre. HAHAHAHAHAHA

I just think that a lot of people (my wife included) is going to be very frustrated with Unity since they are not used to the new menu system, first time ever they will be using something like this.

I'm going to take a chance and see how my wife adapts to this before I put it on the daughters PC, I think there is going to be a LOT of support calls to her office.

Did the upgrade, everything went smoothly, but my boot time is much slower now. Unity is alright.

I've got 1h30 remaining on my upgrade. I have some extra packages that need upgrading so it's taking a while.

I got a funny, every now and then in different applications my mouse will be about 1cm off up or down, so if I want to click on a word I need to click 1cm higher or 1cm lower, if I restart the application its fine but give it awhile it then goes wrong.

Help?!
Upgraded from 10.10 on my desktop. Restarted to complete install.
Getting (after the pink boot screen) "it seems you do not have the hw to run unity, please select ubuntu classic at the login screen...".
I think this might be because I'm using xinerama (dual screen) which I know is incompatible with compiz.

The pc stalls there. No kb or mouse activity. Anyone got a solution?

Edit: I am able to shutdown by pressing the power button so it does allow a safe shutdown at least.

Lol already broke unity.
Tried getting desktop cubes working (without reading any of the warnings).

Got it working again but now it's more of a hybrid look.

The pirates choice!
I'll be surprised if there are 10% of people on this forum with legit copies of Win7.

Slowly getting the hang of Unity, it is just very resource intensive, almost like a Windows installation. :(
hehehe

It is struggling on my netbook, I can work and browse, but just do not install anything while trying to do something, system brain freeze!

Got it, it runs fine on virtualbox under ubuntu thanks.

I broke it cause I like to see what is possible, unlike the blandness that is windows I have actual options (and unlike windows I did not have to format and reload to fix it).

Now I have it working the way I like and I am quite happy thanks :)

We need a like button for posts like these.

Anyone got an solution to my problem?

I hit my threshold on my uncapped account so I can't exactly google it (2KBps internet FTL).
