I am posting this here because iBurst seems to think that you solve problems by ignoring them as well as to find out if there are other users with similar problems.

Here is a copy of the email I sent to them.
I have been unable to access certain internet domains since 2007/06/13
despite logging several calls.

Here is a list of the domains
1. Site https://mobile.absa.co.za is not accessible.
Logged on 2007/06/13 log number 73404
2. Site http://www.indotei.com is not accessible. It is however accessible through
a proxy server such as www.zend2.com or http://youhide.com
Logged on 2007/12/11 log number not supplied
3. Site http://www.jalkapallo.org/superkolik/canon.html is not accessible. It is
however accessible through a proxy server such as http://www.zend2.com
or http://youhide.com
Logged on 2007/12/11 log number not supplied

All of my other frequented web sites were accessible at the time of writing.

Here is my configuration used
Account : [email protected]
IP assigned : 41.208.213.114
P-t-P : 196.2.112.1
Primary DNS : 196.30.31.193
Secondary DNS : 196.46.70.1
MTU : 1352

I will appreciate a prompt reply on this issue detailing the action to
be taken as well as when I can expect this to be resolved.
I do believe that this matter is important to iBurst and will be treated
as such since it influences the customer's internet browsing experience
as well as the image of the company.

I will also be posting a variant of this correspondence to
http://mybroadband.co.za as well as http://www.hellopeter.co.za

There have been intermittent issues with their transparent proxies for a number of weeks now.

I was informed that the problem had been 'resolved' but I have continued to see problems popping up. I haven't had a chance to escalate with them yet but there is definitely an ongoing problem.

my speeds are very slow today and getting frequent url could not be retrieved as well :/

Same issue. Is anyone calling them and opening tickets?

I tried to phone, waited for ages, got told all the techs are away, lost my mojo and decided to bash some hardware instead.

Peering links?

Can somebody check the speed when opening www.is.co.za? I have a sneaky suspicion that it might be overloaded peering links.

I was just contacted by iBurst (as I was about to click submit on hellopeter...) and I have referred the gentleman I spoke to to the two threads on here, which he has forwarded to the technical department as proof that there are more of us having the issue.

Will keep y'all posted (excuse the pun) if I hear anything...

I was trying to do a speedtest on the Ibust website, but it seems not even that is working. So this is the speedtest from : http://speedtest-rba.isdsl.net/

IS ADSL Local Speed Test to Internet Solutions Rosebank Data Centre
Please wait testing speed now...

Start Time: 14:09:14
End time: 14:09:50
Download Size: 409600 bytes
Time Delta: 35.597095966339 seconds
Download Speed: 11 KBytes/s
Line Speed: 88 kbits/s

Can some other people post their results please ?

I just received the following email reply from iBurst

I do apologize for the delay response, I have logged a new ticket to our
administrators to look into the problem, please use ticket number 1124
for reference.

That is ticket #3, hopefully this time.

its amazing how fast iburst work behind the scenes.... [/sarcasm]

Leno, from your traceroute above, they appear to do most of their International routing via IS. IP 168.209.86.250 is in the IS network.

I did 2 speed test this morning. One at 7:30 and one at 9:15 at there is a extreme slowdown on the peering link during peak hours.

Peering links

I have just been called by Joachim at iBurst (network ops dept) who asked about all the problems I know of, gave him all the stuff listed here. They are checking all of the peering links and I have been promised an answer by them hopefully by the end of today.

I was just phoned by iBurst

The problem with https://mobile.absa.co.za was on ABSA's firewall combined with routing over the wrong pipe. :(
IS is one of iBurst's upstream providers.

They are still investigating the other two problems I have. Apparently they are also present on 3G accounts which also happen to use IS as the upstream provider.
They will phone me again tomorrow with a status update.

I also told them about the broken proxy server.

Amazing what lengths one has to go to to get some results.

Resolution?

Ok, I just got a call from iBurst (7:45 pm) saying that they've made a few changes to their systems. I seem to be working fine tonight, no timeouts, no errors, is everyone else working ok? They are calling me again at 4:45 pm tomorrow to check that I'm satisfied that everything was resolved, at the moment, I'm happy.

TX, all good again in CPT, (Gardens; Sea Point & Century City)...

EDIT: I withdraw the above comment! slow, slower, iBurst
