So here goes:

Last week Wednesday I contacted Telkom to inquire about how to cancel my current contract with them.
The person emailed me a link for the online thing with steps similar to this:
https://www.telkom.co.za/today/media/downloads/Three_easy_ways_to_cancel_online_V2.1.pdf
I completed this and after uploading my ID and hitting submit I got this:
Linky link link

So I called them again and was advised to do the whole thing over again because, well...... they do not have a clue. I got no reason and because I cant send call center agents links. Although they kept asking me what the error was.

Did it again on Friday, Sunday, 3 times today (Monday 17th)
Spoke to 2 agents online directly from the website messenger thing.
Both of them kicked me off the chat, I guess if the questions you are put the for are to hard to answer you just walk away. GREAT SERVICE!

So I called them again couple hours ago.
But all I get is "Do it online"

So at this point my patience is running very thin.

How the Hell else does one cancel this thing?
Because if the call center cant help me who can.?

@SaTTRyN - I saved the following - from various threads - to a text file, for when the time comes that I want to cancel my own Telkom Line .. which these days seems tricky in-and-of-itself, but trying to cancel an existing contract might bring with it its own set of headaches.

Suggest you try both the National Consumer Commission & ICASA (at least - maybe https://www.hellopeter.com/ route, first?). Presume you've not yet been able to receive a ref. / case no. from Telkom which might be an obstacle as well (with the NCC and/or ICASA).

Its a pain, but i finally managed to cancel mine.

You have 2 options :

1) Do NOT cancel - Simply tell them you want to switch to prepaid (This is not what i did)

2) Contact the National Consumer Commission - there is a small form to fill out. They get on Telkom's case for you and sort the mess out.

I spent month's emailing, phoning, walking into the contact centres (Waiting in the queues), for nothing.
The NCC sorted the mess out.

its amazing how high they jump for the NCC - i love it

Telkom told MyBroadband that customers who encountered issues cancelling their services can contact the national customer care channel via the following methods:

Email – [email protected]
Call centre – 012 311 2473
The company added that customers should also use the online service cancellation process outlined

I still say if Telkom won't cancel your line, hellopeter them.
Then they're fast to jump. That's how I got my Telkom Mobile account cancelled.

It took me 18 months to get my LTE cancelled as well as my landline.
All that works is to contact the Presidential hotline:
[email protected]

I raised cases with ICASA, the Telecoms Ombudsman, numerous consumer protection councils and Experian as well as going down the social media routes. All but one agency (CONSUMER PROTECTION SERVICES) said it was out of their jurisdiction.

i've had my line with HELLKOM cancelled after contacting ICASA, logged a case, and within 48hrs,
line cancelled, monies refunded.

w w w . i c a s a . o r g . z a, consumer protection, online complaint, create a user profile, fill in the required fields
as required on the form, you'll be given a case reference number and contact details of the person handling ur case... and then u can give telkom any zap sign u please, as a bonus in the complaint where u need to put in what solution u want to the complaint, stipulate that u want ur personal information removed from Telkom, so that they never bother u with telemarketers and their special "deals"... keep ur documentaiton for refernce and if telkom contact u again, we might be able to throw the POPI act in their faces... and mayb create a nice lawsuit...

eg of ICASA case number :
CAS-81056-Z3G0M6

How to really cancel your telkom line: You want to do this especially if you have been blacklisted for not paying after trying to cancel for a while. Or still being billed after submitting your cancellation unsuccessfully.

Option 1.
-----------

1. Download the PDF form at : https://www.icasa.org.za/uploads/files/Consumer-Complaints-Form.pdf
2. Complete the form with all required information.
3. email the form to [email protected]

Option 2
-----------

1. navigate to : https://www.icasa.org.za/pages/consumer-complaints
2. Click on New User Registration and follow instructions
3. Login and lodge your complaint

Option 3
-----------

Walk in to any of the following offices and lodge your complaint there.
https://www.icasa.org.za/pages/contact-us
