Uncapped ADSL designed for browsing at R59

Uncapped ADSL designed for browsing at R59

4Mbps OpenBrowse Uncapped – R329.

±R30 more you can have uncapped* and not just surf-a-lot. I'm confused, how is the above better then...

*1mb/s as per their own website.

I would rather pay R 69 for 1 Gb of unshaped Axxess which has 12 months in which to use. Buy about 10Gb a year as a backup or for use when I am working at clients who are capped.

Whilst I accept it is way more expensive than some of the offerings in the marketplace, I have at least a 12 month expiry period and that alone makes it worthwhile although I must admit I have not looked at what the other providers offer in terms of expiry.
Yes, this would be more versatile.

Add R130 Telkom tax, ADSL rental etc, etc and then all of a sudden R199pm for 10GB at > 4Mbps looks even rosier.

It's a tough life for ADSL ISPs because of the large cost of Telkom line rentals. 3G is eating up a bigger piece of their pie every year as the lower usage users switch to 3G and lots of other possible ADSL users just go straight to 3G.

I think the point of this is to let the ISP shaping deal with your traffic management. Stops employees/kids/whoever burning your cap on a few HD Youtube clips on day one. If Skype works properly along with your normal email and Gmail/similar services it is actually quite nice. Personally it would kill me, but can see it being a great way for many people to ensure the basics can work throughout the month without worrying about hitting the cap.

Browsing speed and Skype performance would be the make or break to me.

I'd get one of these if the 4mb one was like R150. I'd then combine it with my 10mbps Openweb uncapped unshaped afterhours account which is 192k during business hours. That would provide me with a pretty good solution.

Currently I'm living off Afrihost topups for business hours and the openweb afterhour account for weekends and 7pm to 7am.

That is a pretty nice trade off to keep your costs down, but still get to download stuff and watch streaming video.

Ja, unless you actually need that Telkom line it really is looking better and better. Anyone have a report on VOIP (incl. Skype) performance over 8ta?

... uncapped gold 4meg is slow most of the week, only picking up speed over weekends and sometimes during the week in the evenings... ... I don't hold hope for these packages!
