Uncapped ADSL prices compared: Telkom versus other ISPs

telkom pricing compares good when looking at the others... but cost isnt all its about.
but... i guess... with so many people deserting Telkom for other ISPs over the past few years the connection quality may actually not be too bad ? should be less congested network than the other big players? :-)

Only time will tell if Telkom's products are going to be up to scratch.

I will give them a go from the 1st of Feb. Used MWeb and it was ok. They only snubbed 4mbps customers, which made me leave for Afrihost. Afrihost was great until they moved to MTN, now they suck big time. So Telkom might just be the silver bullet.

I am on a 2mb bundle uncapped. Will make my decision on Friday.

Cancellation letter sent to MWEB this morning. Reason: Out of date pricing model.

I will give Telkom a chance but the guys I know who use Telkom say their service (as an ISP) is excellent.

I am also thinking of giving Telkom a chance but first.... MWEBGUY, any idea when mweb will be release there new pricing model? so there is 3 days before the month end and I might make the call

I know it's been said a 100x, but R300 for line = ridiculous.

The comparison is usedul, but the presentation is clumsy.
How difficult would it have been to make the comparison in two tables (bundled and unbundled) with the speeds as column headings?
Where a SP doesn't have a product just leave the cell empty.

Yeah, MyBB's design sucks.

DO NOT waste your time & wait for MWEB to respond. Last time this happened & there were speed upgrades 384 - 1024 and 1024 - 2048, we waited MONTHS for feedback.

They gave us some story about "we working on a new model and we will release it ASAP". It was a painfully long time as they waited for every other ISP to release their models before they did. They are no more market leaders in terms of leading the pack with pricing. Rudi has left & since then MWEB is just another ISP.

Why show the cost of Openweb silver when their Vanilla account is way cheaper?

Isn't the Vanilla heavily shaped or something? Maybe they want to compare similar products?

I sent that letter about 8 month ago already......

One might insist that say MWeb's service is of a higher quality, but I think with my recent experience in the last 6 months or so that it would be hard to have a worse quality service. Speeds are up and down all the time. Streaming video is getting progressively more impossible. On a 4mbps line. If Telkom's uncapped has sub-200ms ping to EU game servers and streaming video from services such as YouTube (much of witch is locally cached I believe) works consistently then I think I'll go for this.

Yes the Do Uncapped 4mbps option on the web still reflects a +R1100 total cost per month. So I will check in from time to time.

It will change on the 1st Feb cos the call centre people are aware of the new pricing model.

My ADSL line is 2 Mbps, but I'm on MWeb's 1 Mbps uncapped. It wasn't worth upgrading for R 150 extra. Now Telkom is only R 50 more so it makes sense to double the speed for R 50.

MWeb's 4mbps is now R 300 more expensive than Telkom :wtf:

I'm actually considering dropping down to the 2Mbps bundle because spending a grand every month has always felt a bit dodge.

The Telkom 2Mbps bundle is very well priced.
