Uncapped ADSL prices start to decrease

axxess all the way ... vvv satisfied with their offering a.. and I must add service so far..

I must agree with you on their service part. Even when they made their saix/is conversion fail earlier, they were on the ball rectifying it and tickets logged were sorted out within minutes.

The way I understand that statement:

- It's an uncapped account, but only 15GB will be unshaped (i.e. gaming / downloads)

This safeguards them from people popping open torrent pullers and crushing their network. So basically after 15gb's usage your account turns into a normal uncapped shaped account. Not all together bad for R500, considering I'm already paying +/- R400 for my 6gb unshaped international + 4gb local.

EDIT: Nevermind - I only saw the R50/gig over the 15gb limit after I re-read it. That's balls. Basically they're saying - we won't cut you off, we just won't inform you that you're over your limit & then take your money anyway.

However, if their unshaped really is unshaped and/or manageable for gaming - then R500 / 15gb still isn't bad at all...

Ja nê.
Your initial interperation is also the train of thought I was on, but as was explained by another post earlier, they're doing a good job of luring you in with nicely phrased marketing.

drops in a bucket. When are we going to see a true uncapped, unshaped service at a reasonable price in South Africa?

Is the Vodacom and Axxess deal only uncapped for local?

I wish MyBB can use a a standard format for comparing the prices and features of broadband packages. It would make it a lot easier to decipher the lingo mumbo from the real innovative deals. And I think we will see a lot of new packages or package changes in the coming months. Just reuse the same table with aspects such as connection fee, monthly fee (incl / excl line rental), int cap, local cap, DL speed, UL speed, relevant hours, contract duration, shaping, fixed IP, etc . Even if the ISP don't provide all the info, one can at least figure out where they are trying to catch you out.

Axxess is international. Eve is very precious to me and I will drop them so fast if that changes. And no P2P does not seem affected although I mainly use my line for gaming and streaming.

24month lock in, plus 1,5k for them getting your business. Proudly SA T&C's these...

As far as I can see, these okes do not even mention "caps". The rest of the world probably don't know what a cap is! *sigh*

You'd think that, but you'd be wrong. Bell Canada is now trying to apply "usage-based billing" to customers in a tiered pricing structure in much the same way that we do GB bundles here in SA.

Also Time Warner cable was going to implement the same idea, but public outcry made them postpone the trial program until October. Their customers will soon be paying $15 for a 1GB cap, ouch. Fair enough though, their customers will be paying 75$ for a 100GB cap, so the more they use the less they pay.

Regardless, they are all about to learn what it means to have a data cap.

78.00 USD = 711.638 ZAR, dude even if they get capped look at what they are paying for that 100gig cap.... and not even to start talking about what speed they get with that cap. I hate it. It makes me sick to the stomach
