Ugh I still have to play Odyssey properly. Not to mention Valhalla :/

But this one looks cool. Back to the middle east and to the series' roots.

This one looks great. Looks like it's going back to the series roots with narrow streets and rooftops which would a good thing imo. Also glad they're back in the Middle East.

Gonna have to play Odyssey and Valhalla soon I guess.

I wonder when the main series is going to Asia for a change though... So much potential there for something amazing in ancient China or especially Japan.

Looks like we gone full circle.... back to its roots.

The 1st Assassins Creed was meant to be Prince of Persia game called Prince of Persia Assasins

Mirage has a verry Prince of Persia vibe to it. Cant wait

Done all bar latest DLC's, but I just bought Ragnarök expansion as part of the AC anniversary sale for R360 so will have to play that next.

Got my AC Asia itch scratched thanx to Ghosts of Tsushima on PS5. I know its not the same but it played very much like an AC game.

Alongside Mirage they also announced Codename Red (working title), which is going to be set in Japan and will be the next game in the vein of Origin, Odyssey and Valhalla.

Ubisoft refers to this title as "The future of our open world flagship RPG series", which seems to reference the fact that Mirage will be a more 'classic' Assassin's experience that leans on stealth and parkour more than it does damage numbers and massive worlds.
"[Codename Red] will let players explore one of their most anticipated settings," says Ubisoft's Marc-Alexis Cote on the Ubisoft stream. The game will be an "anticipated Shinobi fantasy in feudal Japan,"

Personally I can't wait for both. I've loved both styles of AC.

Oh I didn't know that. Saw the teaser but thought Codename Red would be like the Chronicles series which isn't for me.

Nice, now really looking forward to both. Assassin's Creed Japan will be spectacular I think.

They have a lot to do to capture the spirit of Japan cause people are sure as hell gonna compare it to Ghosts of Tsushima

Yup I know. One thing I hate about Assasins Creed is that it killed Prince of Persia. Would pick POP over AC any day.

Even loved the POP reboot. Awesome game. Didn't deserve to get its planned sequels cancelled.

I liked both, can also see a lot of PoP in AC esp when you go into tombs & catacombs. Pity the Sands of time remake keeps on getting postponed.

OK this explains it more

“People who love just immersing themselves in the past will be able to jump right in there and never be interrupted or need to know who Desmond and Layla is,” says Côté. The implication, then, is that the main games will now be solely set in the past.

So if Infinity does feature a storyline, but is not a game, does that mean we won’t be controlling a modern-day protagonist any more? I ask if the meta storyline will be limited to things like audio logs and email chains.

“The way we tell the story will evolve with time,” says Côté. “It's something that we're doing for the long term, not for the short term. But the abstraction that we want people to have is [Infinity] is your Animus. It is your DNA explorer on your desktop. You are the main story character.”

They finally removing that Anumis game breaking crap.

Doesn't bother me because the original game is still so amazing. Same with Splinter Cell. Will still get the remakes though.

Yeah, people inevitably will, but it's probably only going to come out '24/'25, so like 4/5 years after Ghost of Tsushima. It'll also likely feature a lot more urban settings on mainland Japan. GoT's sand box was mostly rural, so even just setting-wise there's already a lot to distinguish them.

But meh, it's a big place with a long history - lots to work with! The AC formula will also feel quite different to GoT, imo.

Already saving my pennies for this

So is this basically “BotW 2” or something else?

Wonder if they will have some awesome upscaling tech. Not sure I can “go back to” 1080p medium settings.
Then again, I haven’t played more than an hour or 2 of BotW, so am I really going to play this :giggle:

Edit: I really should ask google before asking stupid questions :X3:

Definitely a concern of mine that it could be BoTW 2. A big part of the appeal of the game was the exploration. Going through the same map would be a big downer.

But they've been tight lipped for a reason. We already know that they've vertically added to the world, those sky bits look intriguing. I suspect they have changed the world enough to overcome this issue, or at least hope so.

We've seen some pretty games on the Switch. BoTW being a Wii U game initially would have effected development. I'm sure they will get Tears of the Kingdom running better
