Upcoming Games

The other problem the industry has right now is that so much focus is being put into making a game look good that the actual story, vibe, gameplay etc is secondary which means we get fewer and fewer quality games that blow you away.

People have been saying this for decades. It is now easier than ever to make a game look good. I would say that there are more and more games that focus on gameplay that ever before.

I think the biggest problems in the game industry right now are:
1. We have an open world!
2. Our game is 100s of hours long (because you have to hunt, collect herbs and grind to get past the level gate).
3. Live service so that you can buy cosmetics!
4. Just playing a game is too boring. We make it exciting by forcing some gimmick on you. To complete the game, you will have to glory-kill-for-ammo more than half the enemies.

Luckily there there are still studios who focus on those. I'd say most of the Sony 1st party studios make those things core to the design, as well as any game from FromSoftware.

So basically anything from Ubisoft? :p

Yip 100% agree, Sony studios know how to make great games. I haven't lost faith in CDProject yet, hopefully the new Witcher will restore my faith in them.

I love open world games, but it needs to have a great story and atmosphere to grab you for the 70-100 hours. Red Dead 2 and Witcher 3 is great examples of open worlds done right. From what I have seen Hogwarts looks promising.

That'll show the wokes, spending 70 hours playing a game you don't actually want to. :p

Dude if they want me to boycot it, it must be good :D

You know similar to old Barry Ronge, when he said a movie was **** I hat to go watch and if he liked a movie, I knew I should avoid with a passion. If Woke say avoid I have to go play it.

Edit: OMW, the man passed last year O.O

When I saw the first trailer I thought so too, but now I get the feeling the game will disappoint. Too many red flags popping up…
Like?

Every gameplay vid I've seen looks amazing but it does look like the type of game that might be a buggy mess. I don't really follow gaming news though so I don't see everything that's happening. I only watch trailers etc.

The only reason the stupid wokes don't want to like the game is because they hate JK Rowling. Pretty much the only issue they have with it and she didn't even work on the game lol.

Personally I think she's great. Also I love the Hogwarts/Harry Potter universe so really looking forward to the game.

Sometimes not having a good story can be forgiven imo. Currently playing Mad Max and the game is loads of fun despite having an incredibly weak story. It's all about gameplay.

The Elder Scrolls games don't have great stories either but they are some of the best games ever made.

5. Politics in place of story telling or a compelling narrative.
6. Buggy launches due to financial interests needing to be met

Starfield rumoured to be delayed again. Release date on Steam changed from 2023 to "Coming soon".

I'm fine waiting, if Bethesda thinks something needs to be delayed then it's most definitely needed

I am fast losing PS5 buddies because everything is free on GP...
