Upgrading line speed with Telkom

I'm not sure if this has already been asked, so if it has sorry for the repeat and you can redirect me.

I recently checked on the Telkom adsl checker for my line speed, it is as follows:

ADSL Availability
Service Available
Maximum speed available in your area 1 Mbps
Your Current Service speed 2 Mbps


Will I be able to get a faster connection and if so what will be the steps and the cost.

I suggest you call Telkom's call center and inquire. If you don't like what you hear then politely end the call, wait 3 minutes and then call back. Next person you talk to might tell you something different.

Huh? MAx is 1 Mbps yet u are on 2 Mbps?

I was with the Telkom simple deal and I think that the uncapped starts from 2mbs after they upgraded their deals.

Glad you asked :). Two things you can do here.

1) Enter your 10 digit phone number and tell us if it shows your exchange supporting anything faster here
2) PM TelkomZA who will happily assist you and be patient as he will get back to you as soon as he can. :)

Thanks. Contacted TelkomZA, seems to be that my line speed is 2mbs, it was a record updating error on their side.
