Use for Pentium II PC

Hi everyone

I have a Pentium II-based PC in perfect working order that has served its purpose as a normal PC.

Specs are as follows: PII 350MHz, 2x 256MB Kingston PC133 RAM, MSI Radeon 9200SE AGP 8x, 8GB 5.25" Quantum HDD, 4 port USB2 PCI card, D-Link DFE-530TX 10/100 NIC (PCI). Not going to mention the motherboard, since it's cheap and nasty :p

Should I dismantle it and sell the parts separately or rather convert it to a DVR / media server? I could always just buy a SATA PCI card and add more storage.
 
Will probably fail hopelessly at anything HD but should be fine for "normal" series etc. Might want to put a bigger drive in though.
 
It would be excellent if you could throw it out of a tall building and film the resulting smash and post that to youtube and then become famous.
 
My mother still uses an ancient pc like that.
I suggest you donate it to an underprivileged school.
You will feel so good for doing such a nice deed and karma will reward you......
 
Bigger HDD and use as torrent box with new uncapped accounts. Will feel much better than if you gave it to charity... ;)

I have a similar POS, 192MB RAM :eek: just put in an 80GB HDD and it's good to go. Runs headless in the cupboard- gets ~80GB/m on 384k running 24/7.
 
eish i remember OCing my PII 350 to 400 once, 50Mhz was enough to impress friends in those days......... Donate it to charity, you will make someone smile!
 
I'm tutoring a kid who's mom works as a cleaner at my work. They have NO computers at school (Benoni High). Donate the PC to him. It'll open up a whole new world for this kid. He's in Grade 9 at the moment.
 
Okay, I'm sure they have some computers (in the school office) ... but either way, they don't get to use a pc lab.
 
Donate to a worthy charity, as you said, it's served it purpose for you, someone else's turn. You are not going to get any further value out of it.
