VANS can self provide

@Garyvdh
I'll see your plate of Cookies and raise you a glass of milk/beer/coffee/whiskey/wine/bandy&mix.

I was in Court this morning. Very anti-climactic - until people got the papers and started jumping up and down.

I think an appeal is quite likely - but let's first see the judgementg and consider the grounds of appeal. Will post the judgement when I get it electronically.

Glad to see Ant and Dom hooting it up :D:D:D:D:D

Is this good or bad for Neotel? Instead of competing only with Telkom it looks like they'll be competing with a whole lot more soon.

This is so great! I'm going to be high the whole day!!!!

Poor Ivy and her friend Paris, bet they didn't see this happening! (though neither did we, in all honesty) :)

yea, they will appeal :( I just hope this isn't short lived

kudos to those who were brave enough to take it on from 1 Feb 2005 - there are indeed some who have publicly stated: "VANS can self-provide" since that date

Bad, but not that bad. Who has the financial backing they do?

Besides, maybe one of the hundreds of vans can offer a modem with ethernet.

The result of it will be that current cable owners will have to drop pricing and up service delivery to the other license holders to make it too expensive to lay their own cabling.

Market forces will drive the process of the have's and have nots - those who have their own cable network, and those who dont.

Simply said: Market forces will dictate whether Vodacom will be prepared to wait 3 months for Telkom to provide, or whether Vodacom could lay the cable in less than 3 months.

I've never been so happy to read a piece of news on this site before.

YIPPEEE!

OK, so injecting a little bit of reality into our euphoria here. We can almost certainly expect a Constitutional Court Appeal, and ICASA and the DOC are going to turn this into an issue of governmental control (for the protection of the masses) versus unrestricted competition (to the benefit of the masses). They are going to tell the ConCourt that it will be like the unregulated Wild West and the poor public will be taken advantage of, and standards will erode, etc. etc. Will Altech have the backbone and financial clout to take it all the way?
