Reporting it works 100% with that VLAN setting.

Sorry guys this one aint for sale, I am considering selling the Pace though as I dont think Telkom will take it back even though it is 3 days old.

Where did you buy the TP-Link?

Bought it abroad. I however see that takalot has the 8980 which is easy to flash to a 9980

My father has a 8980, I flashed his and verified it works on my VDSL too

Glad it is working now :D Sorry you had to purchase a Telkom Pace though >.<

Went to the telkom shop today and returned the modem, they were happy to take it back and refunded my telkom account with the amount which is cool for me.

Other then flashing it to the 9980, what else is different between the 2

They identical except for the new wireless standard, where you can copy 1GB's over 100m. Obviously not gonna use that feature

From my observation of the two open side by side they are the same - maybe a respin of the PCB but component for component the same hence will have the exact same features given the same software.

It is easy to flash them too - just need a usb to serial 3.3v ttl connector then solder header pins onto the board. From there is a matter of getting unto uboot and performing the upgrade via tftp - if you want the image I used I am happy to provide it.
