Where does this come from? Firstly, Tswhane was spelt wrong :)
and secondly, above 160, you get sent to a little box and they give you a mofo fine....

I thought that was above 180?

I thought that was above 180?

In the Cape I think it's discretionary. Last time I checked a long while ago, traffic enforcement only arrest you after clocking 190-195km/h on N1/N2. Obviously if an officer decides on reckless driving it could well be far less.

High Speed Fine

Hi there

I checked on payfine.coza I was caught by 'n camery driving on the N12 highway. It says I must appear in court. Im not sure what the speed limit was but there are some construction so it might not be 120 km/h. I was going about 170 km/h.. Does anyone know more or less what my fine might be? Also, lol this won't result me having some jailtime will it??

The speed limit on the N12 where there's construction is 80kph. Prepare for a huge fine since you were traveling at more than twice the speed limit. Good luck.

Even if it the limit was 120, why were you doing almost 50% above that speed?
No sympathy from me. You will get what you deserve unless you can produce a VERY valid reason.

High Speed Fine

Ok so I thought It was on the N12 but turns out I was wrong, Its on the M1 tus/btw empire rd & enoch sontonga ln/ave. 80 km/h zone, I guess I was going 130 or something... Still waiting for the fine but I checked it out on the net, it only shows the date and "Admission of guilt not allowed. Require court Appearance" This is a major shock to me, I've been driving that road for 3 years and never once was I caught.. Any idea what kind of fine I can axpect?

Doing more than 40kph above the speed limit on the highway usually goes for about R10k-R15k and or/a suspended jail sentence....

My worst was getting caught on camera doing 124km/h in a 60. Fscking road goes 80-80-80-80-80-60-80-80-80...

Cruched it down to R2.5k but didn't receive a fine. It was the ol' 'we'll see you in court-kthnxbye.'

Normally send you a summons to appear in court. On the summons where you would have the amount block you will not have an amount but XXXX.
I got a fine like this and went to court but I went late and missed the court session. I then went to see the public prosecutor and after some serious bargaining he set the fine to R800.

Is there anyway of seeing the public prosecuter before the summons/court date is served?

Criminal Record?

Hey guys. Found this thread purely by luck. I also received this kind of fine. Did 117 in a 60 zone. Any of you guys think professional advice is required, or can I just go to the Prosecutor myself? Also, does this mean that I now have a criminial record??? :(
