Vista such a pain

Hey

Vista has been a headache ever since i installed it, the main issue atm is power management, i cannot leave my pc on downloading things because windows keeps switching itself off, ive tried changing settings but there always seems to be one thing that switches off or something. last night my monitor went off and this morning it would not come back, the screen was making a sort of clicking noise like it was trying to reset but nothing was happening. any suggestions plz?

Another thing is the User control, i cant seem to switch it off, the most annoying this is putting in a cd and having to click 3 times just to get the dam thing to auto run!?!, any suggestions plz?

go into your power options and tell it never to turn anything off

when u go into users in the control panel are you the admin?
 
funny i have been using vista for months now on many machines and havent had any problems like that. LOl bad luck

Set it now to never turn anything off, will check it in a while when i go home.

I assume im the admin , when i installed i only created one user !?
 
well assumption is the mother of all fu@3ups

go into your user and confirm you are in fact the admin

control panel user accounts

check if you the admin, if you are click turn user account on/off untick the box apply and reboot
 
I installed the Vista GIU(interface only) thing only and it owned me with all kinds of issues :(
I'd be damned to actually install Vista..Xp seems better until better patches and fixes come out for Vista
 
random i dunno when u did this but vista works 100% :)

unless you have old hardware then stick to good OLD xp
 
Ok i selected never turn anything off and it seems fine now, and yes i am the administrator and managed to turn of user control or watever its called.

Now its just the screen not switching on thing, all my hardware is brand spanking new, i never had a single hikup during installation and all my drivers loaded 100% so i dont see how that could be a problem. ?!
 
Intel core 2duo 3gig, 2gig ddr2 1066 gaming ram, 400,300 and 250 gig HDD, 256MB 256bit ATI Radeon.
 
my problem with vista is that wnen it goes in standby,the pc still makes a noise,my mobo does support the rest period but i can understand why the thing is so damn noisy.Vista tells me that low power consumption switches of many things,but in my case its like its still on minus the off monitor

I would be gratefull for the advice please.

go into control panel

power options

my power is balanced

then if you click change when the computers sleep

the top one for my monitor is 5 minutes and my pc sleep is 10 minutes
