If you're using a E220, download version 2.2.2.1 of VMCLite and flash your modem with it(on a XP machine) and install.

AFAIK, it should work with 64bit OS's.

Which data card, I know some don't have 64 bit drivers (altho mostly the older ones)

Option Nozomi..Am I mistaken or does the Vodacom site say the only hsdpa /pcmcia card is the Option Nozomi?

Even Options site does not give drivers ..
Thanks.

According to my documentation, the Option Nozomi is indeed supported under Vista 64 bit and the recommended firmware is 3.17.0Hd or later.

The Option Ricola and Quad Lite are not supported under Vista 64 bit.

Thank you for your efforts here Sir! Will that ,on its own, allow the card to work in 64 bit systems?
Im almost sure I flashed this version off the Vodacom site..Need to go check..
Thanks again..:):)

Ive just checked again..The firmware available on the VC download site is "Nomax ver. 3.17 Od Build 11.04.06" This version does NOT work in 64 bit systems.

Any info on where I might be able to get the correct firmware from?
Thanks.

I happen to have a copy of an updated firmware, the ZIP file is 5MB.

If you're in Durban then we can arrange to meet, otherwise we will have to make another plan - 5MB may be too large to email.

Let me know...

Mmmm,I happen to be in Benoni....mmmm...Thank you kindly for the offer.
Possibility of a cd per post??
I dont want to put you out but would kiss butt for a copy..

alfaengines (at) gmail(dot)com.
Thanks again.

I'll try send it to your Gmail address. Gmail can handle it, so it's up to what IT have set as limits on my mail server ... will know shortly ;)

Failing that, there are ways and means

Hasn't bounced back at me, so it looks like it's gone through :)

Yep ... had me a Gmail account for yonks now. The only question I had was my company mail server :D

Guys, need to say this here...The DURBAN VODACOM guys rock!!
S sent me the firmware, obviously the .exe file was quarantined.
No probs,I had an Option ver 3.17 down loader already.
Renamed it to the later version, imported the data files from the e-mail attachment, and installed the firmware successfully!
This unfortunately did not solve my problem.

The DURBAN VODACOM guys then gave me a phone call to assist!! Where have you EVER found service like this! AWESOME!
We determined that the blockage is due to my pci/pcmcia adapter.
I am now working on this. There is a problem regarding some adapters and versions on XP.,Vista 32 and Vista 64..

The saga continues.
Thanks DURBS!!!!!:):)

Let us know if you come right with an adaptor that works on 64 bit - I'm sure you won't be the only one in history who wants a PCMCIA adaptor to work with Vista 64 bit.

Oh ... and you're welcome :)

Steve,Ive tried various pci adapters and no go on 64..
Mu good mate Carel loaned me a Linksys Router ..Will set it up and Im sure things will work..

Thanks again for your input, you guys ROCK!

Aarg!! If the "internet" led does not flash on the router does it mean its pretty fubarred??

Dunno ... can it connect and can you access the internet?
(Just because the light don't flash don't mean it's broke - maybe the LED is broken :D)

Aah,the ultimate optimist!! You brighten up my day S.!

Ive tried an earlier 3g Novatel card and the modem umt light now flashes..I think the firmware on this modem might be outdated as it does not "see" the Option Nozomi.
Ive downloded the latest firmware but noew it does not see the modem connected. This is on a IP of 192.168.1.1.
and It wont connect on http://192.168.1.1.! Well,Ive turfed it into the cupboard for now..Ill see what I can do this coming week with it.
Could I ask a mojor favour please?
Could you mail me a short "how to" on setting it up on Vista? Just to make sure couse I suspect it sees the modem but there is little or no data tx taking place..
Wifi is no problem, but to flash and upgrade I need ethernet connection..
Thanks S.
