I don't know if I should be posting this, but here goes...

Another new ISP? I received a PM from skierenw saying that there will be a new ISP launching soon. The website will be http://vividweb.co.za/ by the looks of it.

This is what I received,

Hi,

I am currently starting a new ISP with a new backbone, We are focused on unshaped service and targets exactly what Mybroadband users want - Transparency and a good Internet Service.

Would you be interested in a free trial account to test our service, Once our new backbone is up and running?

I replied asking about the backbone and price and they replied,

Our 2Mb/s Uncapped account is R199 Per Month,

Local Backbone: SAIX (Telkom)
International: a company called Borwood.net - They are our international backbone provider.

Another message said this,

We are launching our website in July aswell as our Client Control Panel.

I don't know, I don't really have much faith in an ISP that's also a DJ (and not myBB DJ):

From the Twitter link on the site:

@MRIncWorld
What we do: CCTV, Dj, Sound & Lighting, Electronic Equipment, Computers, Integration systems, Sound Studio, Turnstiles, Security, Live shows, Parties, Events.

Sounds almost like another ISP using Cybersmart as their backbone. Since Cybersmart makes extensive use of borwood for their international backbone.

Hello All,

Our Default landing page at the moment is our Web Designers - Only temporary until our website is launched.

If anybody would like a free trial of our Internet Services please email HERE and we will gladly provide you with a free trial account.

Also received a PM and - not never having heard of them before I politely declined (plus I'm planning to give Crystal a go).

Sadly since then said person has not exactly inspired confidence in their ability to handle simple interactions let alone run an ISP. e.g.

Seems like it has become a bit more tricky to find these screen. Does anyone know where I can perhaps get one for cheap..? Doesn't matter if it's 17/19 ".
Please do go play in the traffic.

Suddenly get a weird notification from a foreign thread. :D Now I see why. Not off to the best of starts.

Our aim as an ISP is to be as transparent as possible, Also providing a Fantastic product as well as Fantastic support - Which is what all Internet Users are looking for. If you are not convinced email [email protected] for a free trial to see for yourself.

Sure .... looks good BUT ,,,,,,

Firstly the angle you are taking is REMARKABLY similar to the Crystal angle.
The guys involved with Crystal have been around these forums alot longer.
Your user name does not reflect your business, may make folks nervous and does not speak to transparency
Trolling other threads to start with .... mmmm .... not good.
Transparency AND technical service AND a good product are important.

Probably a bit of market analysis and research upfront would have been a good idea.

Launching at the same time as a competitor who has really done his homework .... well ,,,,,

That aside, information is key ..... whether we like it or not, whether we play rugby, surf, skydive or any other type of activity (or drive a Lexus) - most of the guys on this forum are somewhat geeky technocrats, and thrive on information .... may be worth reviewing your strategy.

Oh ja, and when your post counts stays at 100 ...... and with threads like this .. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/615614-Beware-of-fake-cloud-offers-guys - folks around here are bound to get a bit nervous.

Good Luck

Warning issued. Please let us know if you get any further PM spam.

If this was legit then why are you not sending out account details?
I said I'd gladly trial the account for you.

So, where do one sign up to resell or whatever Cybersmart's adsl? Maybe I should start an "ISP" tonight. Helter's. The ISP for pretty Belters.

Is it worth it with so many of the available?

Lots of Belters available when you have an ISP? Then it's definitely worth it!

Just joking about starting an ISP, because it seems to me Vivid did not think things through, and the Vivid I know is more something about "movies", LOL.

Requested additional information this moring at 08:00, no response...

What a surprise :)

I have no idea what this guy is trying to achieve here, there doesn't seem to be any apparent business plan.

Rather than pursue litigation against this ISP following recent developments relating to infringing of Crystal Web intellectual property, we have been in touch with this organisation and will assist them in setting up their boutique ISP instead. We truly believe in co-operative competition!

While they may come across as somewhat wet-behind the ears, we have offered to help to ensure that they have the backing of both entrepreneurs and telecommunications experts to formalise their business model and communications better...
