Vkom 401w hanging.

I have a Vkom 401w MiFi modem/mobile hot spot on 8ta network.
When only my laptop and/or phone is connected it works OK. However, it "seems like", when I connect with my Nexus 7 after a short while, the unit hangs (blue pulsating led but nothing else) and I have to remove battery to reset (power button will not work in this state).

Sometimes, all three devices connected work fine for hours, sometimes only for a few minutes.

Please can someone throw ideas at me as to what can be wrong or suggest a work around.

Look for firmware upgrade for Vkom. In meantime look for workaround. Check what options you have for WiFi connection on Nexus. Maybe you can limit maximum speed or band selection, need to play a bit. Do the same with router.

I have looked around for a firmware upgrade but there doesn't seem to be one.
WRT speed settings, unfortunately I'm not that clued up on how to do this - I have checked but can't find anything related to speed.
