My VLC media program, was working fine, until this afternoon, all of a sudden it is playing but no picture. I can hear it's playing, When I mouse over the task bar the little pop up window shows that it is playing, but no VLC window on the desktop. I un-installed VLC and reinstalled it. but it still has the same problem. WTH?

Please help.

If you are using Windows 7....
When you uninstall it... make sure you go to your program files folder and check that the old VideoLan/VLC folder is deleted.
Then go to c:/Users/{your name}/AppData/Roaming/VLC and delete that folder as well.

Then re-install.

Awesomeness, thanks much.

I'll do this right now. Hope it works.

Right, can't find a appdata folder. And no VLC folder in the program files either. Still doing the same thing. What gives?

Edit: My bad, found the VLC folder in program files, deleted, but still nada, eish.

Edit 2: Ta, Gary, ignore me, I'm a total noob. You helped me out big time. It's all working properly now.

Ja, sorry... I forgot to tell you to enable view all files and folders! :D

Anyway, watching my show right now. Was thinking I was going to not see it tonight. I did enable the view all hidden files and followed your instructions. Worked perfectly. Thanks again.

Can you watch the videos in any other media app? If not, I think there may be an issue with your graphics drivers.

Try K-Lite Mega Codec pack - http://www.codecs.com/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_download.htm
If this plays your media, then it's probably an issue with VLC. However, if this doesn't play it, then there's probably an issue with your graphics drivers.

I had K-lite, but VLC is better, at least to me. Anyway, Gary solved the problem for me, so it's fine now. Thanks.
