No, but if Vodacom send SMS' to your data number you don't receive it

Careful, they might just send you a daily sms saying "We are working on it, please be patient".![]()
Hi, I'm using an iPhone 3G 16 gig edition. I'm on pay as you go and I buy data packs from Vodacom to surf the net. For a few months now, everytime I buy a data pack I get spammed SMSes from Vodacom:
You only have 4000 KB left before costs will be deducted from your call account.
or
Costs are now being deducted from your call account.
These messages just keep coming, all day, in no set pattern, yet it is clear that 'costs' are not being deducted from my call account - my airtime never goes down unless I make phone calls. I have gone through all my apps, and I have made sure none of them are attempting to connect to the net or use IM push or whatever. I've tried resettings, turning off 3G, wifi etc, but it doesn't seem to stop. What can I do?
I'm sure Ginggs will have a switch disabling SMS when he updates MDMA!!Well you do receive it, you just can't read it with MDMA (yet)![]()
Get a cheap phone with a different SIM/number for standby calls !
These sms's don't sound like spam![]()
The word "Spam" as applied to Email means Unsolicited Bulk Email ("UBE").
Unsolicited means that the Recipient has not granted verifiable permission for the message to be sent. Bulk means that the message is sent as part of a larger collection of messages, all having substantively identical content.
A message is Spam only if it is both Unsolicited and Bulk.
- Unsolicited Email is normal email
(examples: first contact enquiries, job enquiries, sales enquiries)
- Bulk Email is normal email
(examples: subscriber newsletters, customer communications, discussion lists)
Its unwanted and sent to a huge amount of subscriber = spam.
There's no advertising or special offers or anything in these notifications that you receive?
So it can only be spam if it has commercial offerings?
