I pretty much sms mm to 31050 about once an hour to check my data when I know it's starting to run low.

Noticed this too this morning. Woke up and, no mails/messages. *100# and boom no airtime. Used to get warnings about data usage too.

What gives?

I had all the apps they had. I asked to get an sms on an alternative number. I asked for an email alert. IT DID NOT WORK.
do not let them BS you in thinking they will fix it. WHY WILL NOT FIX IT> just go check out the other treads.
and yes you can go and check every hour to see how much did you use via the web portal (if it is working) but why should you.
I am now at Telkom mibile 10gig. when it is used up the internet stops working and ask if I want to go oob..... easy WTF is wrong with vodascum. why can they not have done the same thing.
RUN people run they are stealing you blind

It does send, occasionally. So its not disabled IMO, just buggy.

Vodacom is also pushing their My Vodacom app. If only they spent a fraction of that effort allowing users to disable OOB data.

It always used to work quite well but not any more.

Happened to me three times now on two different devices with two different numbers. Vodacom I have dropped my contract because of out of bundle costs, don't force me to another service provider altogther.

It's been some months now where I don't get sms's anymore. And don't tell me that the onus is on me to check and manage my my balance. Just cut of internet when my bundle is done, don't use my airtime.

Agreed. Telkom Mobile sends a notification to say your internet access has been paused because you ran out on your bundle.

Was it just me, or did the SMS saying that you had 3MB data left, never accurate? Always looked and had about 5MB left.

I'm having the same problem. Wife's phone exhausted airtime in no time flat (twice over the past two weeks) due to the OOB monster. No warning SMS was received.

Is there anywhere, for example on myvodacom, where this out-of-data warning can be configured in any way? If it makes any difference, I've been loading the promo data bundles.

After my 2nd occurence,I tweeted VC and someone did get back to me saying they reactivated it on my profile. Or something like that. The lady also said it was not 'deactivated' so I am not sure if what she did will work... I will see what happens in a few days. Tweet tweet.
