I have just run the speed test and am getting a better EDGE down speed of 110kbps and up of 31kbps this morning.... this is still not equavalent to the 160kbps down that was normal a week ago but an improvement on the 75kbps that I was getting over the weekend.
I wonder if there is some crude form of throttling taking place here to protect the speeds of the contract users?
Yes, you get a speed proportional to your monthly spend....
No, not at all. We don't inspect, shape, prioritise or in any way mess with an IP packet on the network.
Low throughput is normally due to one of two reasons:
- Something broken, right from the terminal (on your side) to all the networking bits and pieces (on our side) to national & international links and systems (Telkom and further upstream).
- 'Normal' congestion where nothing is broken, just overloaded.
Currently we do have a few network issues (guess you've all noticed!) but it could just be congestion or even a combination of both.
Your situation does seem to be (at least partly) congestion. Have you reported it to 155 or [email protected]?
