good morning all

Im the same as Psylent. Im from the UK living in Cape Town, Hout Bay and running Vodcom 3G through my Nokia n95 phone with prepaid data.

Up until about a week ago, all has been ok - now, i have zero data traffic, DNS problems.

someone said on the previous page that it was fixed....it most definitely is not fixed

and all the while my prepaid data is ticking closer to expiry... R400 wasted on data allocation that i cant use.

anyone else in or near Hout Bay who have the same problems on Vodacom? or even if you have no problems...just so i know it isnt my hardware causing the problems...it was fine until about a week ago... :(

What i like to do is keep a ping going to any website (helps to keep hspda goin instead of 3g) in the backround while i play poker or online gaming. I still seem to be getting response timed outs at odd intervals . Is any1 else getting this?

At about 23:45 last night, my connection died - it didn't disconnect, but there was no connection to the internet - no DNS, no websites, nothing. I tried to diconnect and reconnect, and I got a 619 error. Tried connecting quickly with my phone, and that too couldn't connect. I logged a call with 155 and went to bed. In Hilton in KZN.

So anyone in the N1 City area have problems last night? I was at ginggs's place with the local Vodacom guys doing some testing and from 20:15 we started loosing 3G signal one by one till all of us were on GPRS. When I got back to my place at about 21:20 it took me a good 5min to get signal and even then it was EDGE and then suddenly at about 21:30 the 3G/HSDPA signal was back and I could connect.

The good news is they (Vodacom techies) have experienced the problem for themselves and can hopefully work towards a speedy solution.

Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: ""
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

Does anyone have any ideas where this error message originates?

Morkans (near Century City) and I (near N1 City) have been getting a lot of this lately. How is your DNS resolution?

I've only seen this once, and thats when i type Vodacom's Web Address in wrong.
I was submitting a post on this forum, so the address was correct (it came from the form's code).

I refreshed the page (resubmitting the form) and after a long delay, the message was posted.

I suspect this message is coming from Vodacom's transparent proxy, have there been any changes made on their side?

Connection problems

Hi,

I don't know if I'm the only one:

The last few days, I regularly get a "now connection" type error on Vodacom - voice as well as data.

Just had a call, the call ringed, but when I answered, a SIM-card error message appeared.

Is it only me, or is it more widespread?

(Pretoria Wapadrant and Centurion Lyttelton areas mostly)

Is this the place? can anyone help in V3G's absence? In short, my 3g has become unusable at times, because of constantly falling back to gprs. Can't believeit, I'm not in the sticks, between Rosebank and Sandton. Logged a cal, but they tell me it will take a month (ok, 3 to 4 weeks) to check up on

I, and most of my colleagues have been having problems with slow speeds for most of this week. The connection frequently drops, and is on GPRS ffar too often. Both on the PCMCIA and USB modem types

We are at Wanderers Office Park, Corlett Drive, Illovo, Johannesburg, opposite the Stadium

Is it poss the area/mast is overloaded?

Stupid question: DNS resolution? How do I check that?
DNS resolves hostnames to IP addresses, for example: mybroadband.co.za to 196.7.147.188.

If this wasn't working, or timing out, your browser would give you an error message that it was unable to find the server.

The test is to open a command prompt, and type:
nslookup mybroadband.co.za

No need to be so defensive, I was just pointing out that I didn't type in an address to get that error.

It is strange that you received this message for typing the wrong address though, I would have thought your browser would have reported it couldn't find the server.
