V3G any reason why these request timeouts continue, especially in the evening?

My pings to google.com sit around 300ms which is good, my signal is around 63dBm (which is excellent), yet this problem remains on both normal internet APN and unrestricted APN. I just dont know what else i can do to get some sort of reliability, is ur WiMax service more reliable or am i stuck until my contract runs out?

Won't you do an "ipconfig /all" and post that as well?

You do realize that everything in Bedfordview closes down after 6PM? ;)

Last night was terribly slow. I frequently experienced blank pages and kept having to click reload. I also kept getting connection interrupted errors when trying to post in the forum.

Last night was bad here too. From my earlier post, I was getting 47% packet loss on HSDPA:eek:. I actually had to switch over to GPRS:eek:.

Tonight is much better though.

Today I tried to download a large file and couldn't get more that 3MB in without things just grinding to a halt! 5 x 3MB lost data!

Now I can connect but no data throughput at all! The same on my HSDPA card and my Nokia 3120 Classic trying WAP on the latter!!

Alrightie.

I popped the VC sim in my phone and periodically checked the net access and yeah, it appears to have come alive again, touch wood.

Vodacom broadband (lack of) connection

I live in Ballito, but do NOT think this problem is isolated to Ballito. My connection ALWAYS drops to 0kbs. And even when my connection speed is up, there is NO data transfer!!!! I can see the freaking tower from my house!!!!! I initially thought this problem was isolated to my area, but have played enough online poker, and interacted with enough vodacom subscribers to realise the problem is a national issue. No, I do NOT want any help from vodacom - the last 6 calls to vodacom's broadband 'help' service is enough to put me off for life!!!!!. What I need to know is it worth porting to one of it's competitors? Does the opposition have as unreliable a broadband 'reception' as vodacom - is it worth porting?

One more thing - I am on pay as you go data bundle. When I cannot connect via pay as you go, I connect fine with my contract phone...... Does Voda give more priority to one over the other. I've asked the help desk, and they skirt the issue.

I interact with MANY people from all over the country and their down-time corresponds to mine......

Normal when you log an complaint on hellopeter someone that works on your specific tower gives you an call with a responds. After I done that, everything is working 100%.
Although it was with voice call not data.

I have the same issue in Joburg, I'm staying in the eastrand.
Lately, my connection has been down most evenings, if not down, transfer rates are really slow, with pages timing out etc. Its usually fine during business hours tho.

In fact right now, I'm having problems connecting off my pay as you go sim card (Yes it does have airtime :D ), So I'm posting this using my contract sim from my cell phone.

Ah. I thought I was the only one. So it looks like the prepaid SIMs are the problem?

I'm still having problems on Vodacom prepaid.
Last night I was unable to even check airtime, it came back with errors on vodacom4me as well as checking thru the cellphone. This morning I can check airtime again, but still having problems connecting.

And so it continues......

I got this reply at 08:26 this am from a call I logged.

"Message from Vodacom: Dear Customer kindly be advised that the Network problem you reported to Vodacom is resolved. Thank you for your patience. Kind regards, Vodacom Customer Care (Chandre Blanche)"

I could not connect at all at about 07:00. The connection dropped again at 11:00....
