Just a note for those out there using the Billion GPRS / 3G Routers.
I use one of the Billion Routers and after playing around discovered that the router was only giving me 3G download and upload speeds, but when placing my data card in my laptop it was at HSDPA speeds again

So. a few emails to Billion in South Africa, and hats of to them their support was impressive. A few firmware updates later and using the router I am back to HSDPA downloads and uploads. I am not yet convinced that the uploads are where is should be but it is allot better then previous firmware versions!

What version are you running on now?

things are really crawling this evening....

Vodacom speedtest:
Download Speed: 1642 kbps (205.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 102 kbps (12.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Speedtest.net
down: 594 kbps
up: 89 kbps

*Sigh*

Sunday - 13h00

Only GPRS available.
HSDPA was available earlier, but incredibly slow.

Internet APN.

Internet unresponsive after a minute of connecting.

Ping statistics for 66.249.91.104:
Packets: Sent = 252, Received = 151, Lost = 101 (40% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 281ms, Maximum = 3737ms, Average = 908ms

Vodacom Speed test doesn't even start:(.

No 3G available

I think we cover less than 20% of the landmass of South Africa with HSDPA and since you seem to live in "South Africa", I would suspect you have a less than 20% chance of getting HSDPA. ;)

No 3G either. on Sunday at 13h00 - constant problem with 3G operating at 'full' potential, or VERY slow or not at all. Reported it 6 times now to Voda helpline and I keep getting an sms to say that the problem has been resolved; which in itself is an acknowledgement there is a problem.

Please update your location field to Suburb and City, so that V3G may be of some assistance. SA is a big place;).

9:30 to about 10:10 pm 3G was out here in Gordon's Bay. Could Connect but could not browse !!

I saw that 11:06pm Anomaly again. And twice after that just got disconnected a few minutes after logging on again. Really getting frustrated here.

3G connection just dropped and reconnected via GPRS (AGAIN!!!!!!)

vodacom 3g/gprs not working?

I have a nokia e61i - yesterday the phone suddenly stopped connecting to certain services through gprs, no email in the built-in app or with profimail, fring doesn't connect, but i can surf with the built in browser.
I'm in the Johannesburg area.

I tried an mtn sim in the phone and everything worked perfectly.

Tried a second vodacom sim in the phone and got the same proble, couldn't connect to email.

I've done a hard reset on the phone, resinstalled the firmware etc, and it works with the mtn sim, so i'm thinking this is an issue with vodacom. Called 111 and they told me there's no problem with the internet services.

anyone got any suggestions?
