3G Broadband

Burgersfort, Limpopo
So are these upgrades done?
Im a contract customer and sure are not getting any 3G around here!

Good signal strength, good connection speed, no data transfer - 10:30pm

Things are really slow at the moment. MBB is taking forever to load and I have already had two occasions where the page timed out with a DNS resolution error. Vodacom speedtest shows the upload is really bad.

Download Speed: 1437 kbps (179.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 41 kbps (5.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Download Speed: 1251 kbps (156.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 56 kbps (7 KB/sec transfer rate)

Downloads are looking better, but upload is still sucking

Download Speed: 1862 kbps (232.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 77 kbps (9.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

This is on your router with which data card?

3G connection

Have you checked on the map that you're in a 3G area?

If so, did you report it to 155? What did they say?

If they can't find fault, PM me your details as per the link in my sig below.

Vodacom phoned and promised to send out a technician. They will report back. Had 3G coverage yesterday, in real bad weather. This morning edge and GPRS -connection seems like the only options.
Thanks though.

Still having intermittent connectivity in Durban (Overport/Springfield) area.
One minute things will load fine and on the next the page will only half load or I'll get a "connection reset by server" message.

Hmmm.. I just decided to try out Windows instead of Linux and it seems I can connect fine with Windows!

Why would that be? I've had a working linux connection that hasn't changed for 9 months now!!

V3G - Would the OS make a difference to my connection? It shouldn't really..

Thanks

Having frequent disconnects on EDGE in bloem...HSDPA works fine, no disconnects, but it jumps between 3G and HSDPA the whole time (dunno if that's normal)...and really chows my battery :p
Any reports of problems, V3G? If it's not gone tomorrow I guess I'll mail support.
Same seems to apply to my friend in Sandton. EDGE DCs all the time, HSDPA/3G works fine.

I've found a solution to my problem... I found that the SE phone has a "USB Internet" option that Linux detect automatically and that connection works fine now!

Thanks

Have escalated but won't you fill in the details (as per my sig) and PM me?

Also, can you not force your modem to 3G-only?

PM sent.

I can force it to "UMTS"...but I want to use EDGE most of the time since it's not so heavy on my cellphone's battery.

I would like to help my Dad. He stays in 4 Grey Street, Strand. He can lock his E220 modem to UMTS, but this would not be suitable for his Nokia E71, because then he will have no reception in most places at home. When I look at the coverage map, I can see that 3G is patchy in that area. Where can I log a case with Vodacom to have the 3G coverage in Strand Central improved? I do not want to call 155. Is there another way?

You've just done it!

But put all the info in the template in my sig and mail to me. I'll pass it to the WC radio planners.

I dont know if any1 else is having this, but i got the worst latency in WoW ive had in ages. What makes it weird is that my ping to google is fine. Im getting around a 300ms ping but WoW is sitting round 11000ms, so its not adding up.
