its been crawling for months...in fact ever since the "3.6mbps" option came along, things went pear-shaped. strangely though... the iphone internet apn is significantly better...

what I said above, well its true, just tested it and iphone got about double the speed compared to my novatel hsdpa modem.

once again, vodacom go sort your sh*t out please! your data network is seriously weak and unstable.

In Cape Town for an IT conference since last Friday. Staying in Tableview.

CONNECTION SHOCKING. Full bars on my cell. One to two bars on my pay-as-you-go sim in the E272 modem.

Connection VERY slow and keeps on dropping.

I thought Ballito was bad......!

Camps Bay beachfront, nearly midnight on a Monday and only able to get slow GPRS with pay as you go in an E272:o
Something's not right. How is Vodacom going to cope with summer crowds:confused:

Shocking connection

Now in Bergvliet

Even worse than Tableview. ONLY GPRS available, and very little data transfer happening. Connection keeps dropping too.

K ive done a test and i need some help from others if it works:

Im running 2 pings, 1 local and 1 international.

the reason behind this is to find out why i still suffer from request timeouts in the evenings. Now what i have noticed is that when i get a request timeout internationally the local ping is still going and vice versa. Its only on a handful of occasions that both timed out at the same time.

Dont know if this is just irrelevant or not, but perhaps worth something to the techies at voda.

It's the same old same old for me. Click refresh, refresh, refresh, click try-again try-again try-again until I get what I want.
Been living with it, hobbling along until a viable alternative appears on the horizon. :(

The irony of it - at an IT conference sponsored by MTN (in Bergvlieg Western Cape), battling with my Voda connection......

Maybe MTN is blocking the signal? ;) I was at a ISPA conference in MTN's building the other day and had 0% signal.....

Actually Bergvliet is a difficult area for all the networks. Near impossible to get towers up. You'll find that both MTN and VC will be patchy.

Vodacom 3G service AKA Request Time Out Service

Damn!!!

It started again .....
Can't connect ... when I finally get connection ....... Time Outs GALORE!!!!

3 Days now

Parow/Brackenfell
PPDB
HTC Touch Diamond

Things have been slow all day. Been uploading files to an international host and I never saw more than 11KB/s (averages of about 7KB/s) with time-outs in between.

A problem has just started for me. I can connect but cannot browse the net suddenly.
Every thing gives a 504 gateway timeout error, but I can ping smtp.vodacom.co.za

It looks like it, as well as some local. I am posting this via dial up. All I can do on 3G at the moment is ping smtp.vodacom.co.za

Only GPRS since early this morning. What happened to 3G? Its a rare occassion when it is available..
