Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

A problem has just started for me. I can connect but cannot browse the net suddenly.
Every thing gives a 504 gateway timeout error, but I can ping smtp.vodacom.co.za

I also got the 504 error, but on the LAN

Works now, so I'm not sure if it is related to the data issues in Central.

/added/ Ok, is the same issue, should be sorted within the next 5 minutes.

I think the "trokkie" came and took our equipment back because I'm still experiencing slow speeds. Will try later again - maybe it will be back then.

FOR **** SAKE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Can Vodacom PLEASE get their pathetic excuse for a 3G/HSDPA service working properly and not just for 1 hour, and then disconnects and timeouts for DAYS.....

HOW LONG WILL THIS GO ON???

Is it only PPDB subscribers experiencing this *** service???

I've had a couple of attempts of something trying to get in on port 445, and I'm not even on the unrestricted APN.
Yup, that's one of the port being targeted. Did you get a source IP?
I've just found one in my logs:

2008/09/28 04:43:26 Source IP 218.161.53.116:1654 Destination IP 41.192.152.37:139
2008/09/28 04:43:50 Source IP 218.161.53.116:3810 Destination IP 41.192.152.37:445

How does this get through the firewalls if I'm on the 'internet' APN which isn't supposed to allow incoming connections?

The situation seems far worse on MTN, I see about 10 attempts every day and they're all from other MTN users.

Have escalated, tx.

We do, in fact, allow one or two VPN protocols to come in on internet (as part of merging internet and internetvpn), but I won't put NetBIOS/Samba as a VPN protocol....

According to the guys '41.192.152.37' is on the unrestricted apn. ;)

Oops, maybe that was your SIM. :o
The last time I saw it was before I had unrestricted, but I wasn't able to go back to see it in the logs. It doesn't happen often though, and might not even have happened since.

Getting HSDPA connection this am, but VERY slow thoughput. Pages won't open, or when they do they are blank!!!! Been fine for a few days, and when I have a 3G connection. The HSDPA connection seems to be the problem?

3G Connection

I have a 3G Broadband contract with Vodacom. Problem is I almost never have a broadband connection. Im tired of paying for a service I do not get! Since 15:00 this afternoon no GPRS connection. If GPRS is connected there are NO data transfer!

Do a signal strength test maybe there is a problem there

Hi

I've been lurking on these forums for months now.. but have never needed to post before. However, I'm having issues with my 3G and need to check if anyone else is having the same.

Area: Durban

Recently (almost a week now) I've been having crappy connectivity on Vodacom 3G. I use my mobile (SE W880i) as a modem.

At the moment, I have to disconnect and reconnect a few times until I get a connection that actually works. Even then, I've been getting a lot of "connection reset by server" type errors in Firefox.
Sometimes I have a "connection" but no web pages load, and I can't even ping google for e.g.

I logged it with Vodacom on Saturday morning, but nothing yet.

Thanks
Rax

Problems in Centurion, Wierda Park ext 2.

3G just goes slow on me. DNS takes ages and regular disconnects. Like the connection is winding down and then dies. The funny thing is not all applications are affected the same way. Email might be super fast while ftp to my server is slow with dreadful web browsing speeds.

To remedy I disconnect and reconnect. A few minutes ago I had to reinsert my card because I kept getting Error 619.

Hope this is not a long term thing like we had in 2006.

Endless problems in Delmas today - Out of 4 or 5 3G cards one cannot connect via 3G, it consistently gives Error 619. 2 bars of signal, using an external antenna, but it will not connect, unless you force it to edge, and then it works perfectly (albeit slowly). Everyone else gets 3G though, on the same signal strength. We'll see what tomorrow brings...
