Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

Been having devistating problems.
In the Louis Trichardt area. the tower we are using is Palmietfontein. Got a cellextender. 2G only. GPRS gives intermittent problems. Then its on then its off. Called Polokwnae branch. They upgraded to EDGE. Now its even worse! with gprs the throughput was constant (enough) Now with GPRS EDGE its on for 5 minutes , then on for about 5 minutes. Downloads go down to 0 kbps
When its rockin and rollin its alright at the highest of 157 kbps.
Any suggestions?

3G/HSDPA connects, but not throughput here. Edge seems to be working ok.
Is it just me or has the throughput slowed down considerably since the beginning of this month on 3G/HSDPA?
I used to get speeds of around 1200kbps consistantly but the past four days I'm struggling to top 400kbps.

I'm in the Highveld, Centurion area.
Looks like you are on vanilla 3G (384k max) and not HSDPA.
My connection does show as HSDPA on the phone. Is there anything else I could check?

I haven't used an HSDPA phone so not too sure about that.
I'm using the Huawei E220 modem and it shows different colours on the LED for 3G and HSDPA.
Which phone are you using BTW?
I'm using the HTC Touch Diamond.

I thought that they turned off the towers due to radiation
but then dialup was dead too

local today is so terrible i have random disconnections just connecting to MyADSL and warcraft 3 server which never happens.but international is working smoothly no problems fast connect.

No, they were the victims this time it seams.

Local ADSL was crawling this afternoon at work, but international seemed ok. This site in particular was painfully slow.

The failed links affected many services and it looks like it especially affected myBB's hosts.
