Hey

So... been a while since I last posted. Started having a weird problem.
I get a very good connection, but as soon as I launch something that is bandwidth intensive, it is like my connection gets throttled. My latency goes through the roof for those moments that I am connected. Once I disconnect, it stablelizes and comes right. As soon as I reconnect, it gets throttled... :(

Any ideas :/

getting huge flucuations here in bedfordview.

Connection is bouncing between hsdpa and 3g with the signal quality bouncing as well.

Tower name is bedfordview, any chance u can lend a hand V3G and see if anything is happening on the tower?

I have to complement Voda on a VAST improvement in the connection in the Ballito area. I get HSDPA 24/7 and it has been VERY stable for a month or so.

The connection has, however, been relatively unstable of late, with the connection dropping a few times a day. Please could you look into it.

Thanks

Dropping to day again. Couldn't connect initially either from a fresh boot.

Device: Huawei E272
Operating System: Ubuntu 8.04 Server
Firewall: IP Tables through Arno's IP Tables Firewall Script
Connection Software: pppd (without wvdial)
Area: Muizenberg

I have frequent problems with both DNS and connectivity loss.

At least once a day my connection just suddenly stops working. It is connected, it has an IP address, etc, all is fine, but there is just zero connectivity. Any pinging results in 100% packet loss. I've tried pinging www.google.com (international), www.iol.co.za (local) and the DNS servers I get handed. Even after dropping my connection and reconnecting, the problem continues. The connection is still correct, DNS servers, local and remote IP addresses, everything. Just no packets going through.

Then there are other times when I still have connectivity, but DNS requests do not resolve. I have the right DNS servers, I've checked multiple times. I usually resolve this issue by dropping my connection reconnecting. Most of the time this works, but there are occasions when it doesn't.

There are also occasions when I get handed the WINS servers instead of the DNS servers.

These errors are very irritating, and happen about once a day. I've phoned 082 155 multiple times, and they always say, "There are no problems reported in your area, sir." and while that's all fine and dandy, THAT DOESN'T HELP ME.

(On a side note, overall I'm impressed with VC's tech support, there are some pretty clued up techies. There are also some folks who have *NO* clue what's going on, but I generally seem to get the clued up techies.)

E220 Vodafone Mobile Conect Lite problem.

I have a starnge problem that appeared for the first time yesterday. I tried reloading the software and it still does the same thing.

Problem:

When I connect to the network, the connect status window pops up and shows the progress of connecting. The problem is that it continues to show that it is trying to connect even though I am connected. I continues trying to connect for 5 minutes (really a nuisance when you surfing the net). It then finally shows it's connected but there is no data transfer information, both the instantaneous download and upload rate and total data usage for the session. It just shows ????

Now it's definately not a modem problem as I use the same modem on another computer and it connects as normal.

What else could I do besides what I have already done which is uninstall the software and reinstall.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe try the full version of VMC, ginggs' app or the Huawei Dash.

seem to be having a odd problems with my APNs.

1. Internet apn: pings to google are around 500ms with in game latencies showing the high pings.
The vodacom speed test says 2000kb down/100kb up

2. Unrestricted apn: pings to google are around 300ms
Speed test says 1500kb down/ 100kb up

This has been like this since thursday with upload being under par as well. I even had vodacom out to my place on friday and the replaced my aerial with a newer/stronger 1 and had it properly pointing to a tower with no change.

location: bedfordview

Any ideas?

Mine's not bad.
Speedtest.net Cape Town
Download: 1861kbps
Upload: 329kbps
Ping: 182ms
Speedtest.net London
Download: 1489kbps
Upload: 157kbps
Ping: 157ms

I did have a recurrence of DNS failures, web requests timing out and not returning any data late last night though. Similar to what we had a couple of months ago.

Hi all!

Had loads of DNS problems yesterday afternoon. Nothing on www wanted to resolve DNS. Worked for IP's though so no problem with connection. Also e-mail worked fine. I am on pre-paid. I see I have a pre-configured DNS server address (80.95.225.230 and seconadry 80.95.225.230). Should I rather be using the automatic detect DNS server address?

EDIT Okay, so that DNS is in Slovenia! I have changed to automatic DNS server.

Also I see I am using IP vesion 4 and not version 6, what is the difference?

I am using Vista 32 Home Ultimate

Thanks!

IPv4 is the the current version of the Internet Protocol that is used across the whole Internet.

IPv6 is the new version of the Internet Protocol that is being rolled out to mitigate the effect of the exhaustion of available IPv4 addressing in 2010/2011. IPv6 is not available on any consumer Internet access products in this country without tunneling to an IPv6 tunnel server.

So... back to the issue of shaping, um, seems to be a BIG problem now. Atleast for me. I am moving so sorry to say, getting DSL. I was quite happy with HSDPA for a while, but something has gone wrong and it seems like a huge step backwards has been taken.

I can sit and chat in teamspeak, but as soon as I try and join Crysis or Americas Army or any such game, my conenction gets strangled. And even if I had just downloaded a file at say, 300k a second, that same connection cant handle the game. *sigh* I have opted to migrate to a smaller package seeing as I will be getting DSL (that and the area I am moving into doesn't have HSPDA coverage, oddly enough) but I would even consider canceling the package altogether. This is frustrating. Anyways, I have no idea what is up with the network as of late. Maybe it is just me but... ja.
