Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

I'm in Centurion.

I don't use my 3G often but used it again yesterday and today. It is slow to the extent that I cannot use it. Last week it was flying.

Would someone please tell me if there is a problem somewhere?

When did this happen?
It was working a few months ago when I had problems with WoW updates failing to resolve server.

Dammit.

Now im gonna HAVE to go on a mission to try find a saix backbone DNS that isnt blocked... ewwwwwww
 
Logged a call with 111 yesterday saying that making calls on 3G resulted in bad signal even though the phone said full signal and surfing was impossible due to the phone dropping the connection all the time.

First they told me my phone was barred from making outgoing calls (I'm on a Talk 240 and it;s a business line - unrestricted!) to which I told the oke to give me a supervisor to talk to. Sup told me the same thing to which i told him to give me his personal cellphone number and I will phone him to prove to him I am not barred.

Eventually convinced them to log a fault with my original problem.

Got a call this morning from a vodacom woman saying that things have been sorted out. I am busy testing and things seem better today.
 
Seeing similar problems, but actually due to throughput problems. My connection eventually dropped and I reconnected.

I'm not that heftily bothered by it, seeing as it doesnt stop me from doing anything (no errors or failures). Just mentioning that does seem a lot slower than usual.

haha. Oh and BTW, while you may have put up 3 new towers in my area you haven't added any more backhaul. I am capping out at 2200kpbs down. Go kick Telkom in the nuts and get those links in :D

Bribe Eric, he's the man. ;)

BTW, I peak at less than that if I turn my 3G repeater on. Without it, I klap over 3Mb/s but can't lock onto a tower. :(

I am in the process of setting up my B970 as my primary home connection with my trusty window mount antenna. Getting -69dBm, so all I need now is backhaul :cool:

I think it might have something to do with the connection being idle for a few minutes.

Nelspruit has been a disaster in terms of 3G the last week or so. Before I left home yesterday 3G signal was nonexistent, and even on GPRS downloading a few mails took forever. Switched to an MTN card to do it as I needed the mail and was in a hurry.

Yes, we had a substantial number of link failures there the last week.

I have just worked out that I am getting DNS errors on the Honeydew tower. Thats where my antenna is pointed as it has the best LOS to my office, even though Panorama is closer it is blocked by 7 houses. When I unplug the antenna I switch to the tower at Panorama sports club and everything works fine, just a bit slow.
