All I Have to say is that there is something really big wrong!

I just logged on, surfed a couple of sites at +-134kbp/s (gprs/edge)
and then BANG 3.8kbp/s

I had downloaded VIA THE PHONE
My timeouts has stoped

Browsing speed without this app was +-1.7kbp/s peak at 6kbp/s
Browsing speed with this app is 3.8kbp/s and peaks at +-134kb/s

For a start listing your location actually helps with tracking down your problem (might be a local issue). I have happened to notice that you complained about coverage in your area in another thread, so in all likelihood it is a local issue and VodacomData should be able to assist. I assume you have at least called 155 and obtained a reference number?

Yesterday morning and this morning I have been having slow speeds with 3G. I'm still trying to access my Gmail account and several sites doesn't want to connect at all. Unsurprisingly, Vodacom4me.co.za works normally. I did log a query, but I'm still waiting for a response.

The speeds did pick up after 12 yesterday. Did anyone else have such a problem where it is slow in the morning but picks up during the day?

3 Hours before my flight at the Jhb airport needing to do work. Airport is quiet and not many people.

International sites do not even load they are so extremely slow they don't even load the page after half an hour and just times out. Messenger cannot sign in. Sites such as local news sites can't even load. Phone indicates 3G and 3.5G (and not GPRS) went to 2 different locations but still like this. Can connect very quickly to the network but once on sites cannot load.

Frustration!

Hi morkhans

I have contacted the vodacom data center (155) in march about calls getting dropped, and gprs not working, they rebooted the Aberdeen 1 base station, gprs come back on calls still getting dropped, contacted them last week monday that phones are jumping between gprs and edge, calls are still getting dropped, the very slow download speed of 3.8kbp/s upload speed @ 25kbp/s and gprs and edge dropping dropping connection so I have 4 logs for Aberdeen 1 Eastern Cape.

Cool. You can pass those ref numbers on to VodacomData and he can lookup the case to see what has been done and what the issues are.

Using 3G in cape Town CBD today, and experiencing some problems. Have been disconnected about 3 times in the past 3 hours.
The speed is good when it's up.

Having some DNS server issues here - connects but no throughput.

Changed over from dynamic to static and using OpenDNS servers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Working fine now.

I reported this problem below to iBurst a while back who uses Vodacom Business and also to Vodacom Business directly this week but it has fallen on deaf ears.

I asked Level3 in europe why I was getting high latency through their networks, especially when playing World of Warcraft Europe. They replied:

Good afternoon,
Please be advised that there is presently a sub sea cable failure which is affecting traffic round the level 3 IP network.
This occurred on the 29th June.
The cable is in the process of being repaired and we expect all traffic profiles to go back to normal within the next few days.

Many thanks

Level 3 Communications

I received information later that its due to be fixed now on 28 of July. Is Vodacom aware of this? Anything temporary can be done about it until its fixed to lower latencies as the Level3 IP network is experiencing heavy congestion and effecting latencies alot during evening cause of this fault? Have you contact Level3 via Saix to query this fault? Need some feedback on this fault as I cant contact Level3 directly anymore, they asked me to go up through the proper ISP chains.

Having problems with E220 and 3G in Bedfordview. The signal is strong and connects but I can't access the internet. I even tried the OpenDNS servers.
The only way that I can connect is by selecting "GSM only"

I don't have this problem in other areas (like Rosebank). What gives

When I need to connect to the internet through my phone, I get:
"Authorisation failed."

One of our sites using Vodacom 3G is experiencing problems connecting...

Had similar issues this morning where the connection remained stable but data throughput failed. When I reconnected (about every 5 - 10 mins) it worked again but then I had to reconnect some minutes later.

Since 13:00 seems better but I have information that Northern PTA still has major issues and cannot even connect to the GPRS network.

There was a problem with the vc network today. They had a message when you called 155 and said that 3G, Edge and GPRS was unavailable. They also didn't give a location, which probably means that it was widespread.
