It's pretty slow for me tonight as well

I am near Pretoria and also been struggling with connection slowdowns for the past week.

I see that you tested with the Gaborone server--try retesting with the jo'burg one and re-post.

[Edit] My 'normal' result:

I had a problem 10 mins ago trying to connect. Plugged and unplugged the E220 modem about 5 times. Also restarted the PC 3 times. Finally it worked...dont know what was up...never had this problem before and I've been with Vodacom for over a year.

Same problem here in Magaliesburg, been working fine but for the last two weeks or so its been pretty useless. Can't play any games online now,....come on Vodacom, sort it out.

I had k@k connections tonight barely managing 5% of my connection, tried everything, restart phone, reconnect phone, restart PC, all sorts. Internet eventually became dead. Phoned 155 Data Centre, went through there trouble shooting, no go, they logged my call to a higher level...

... 15 mins, and I was back online at full speed!!!!!

Was it my setup? or did the Data Centre do something?

Go figure ...

Had the same issue in PTA central on a site tonight. Total loss..

Seems to be an issue for me night after night now--connection suddenly drops after around 8pm and only picks up after 11pm(+) or so.

Really frustrating!

I have had the exact same problem the past couple of weeks. In what area are you in?
I'm in Pierre van Ryneveld

Nearly the experience I am having, elarduspark is right next to pierre van ryneveld. This only leads me to conclude that vodacom 3g in that area is completely oversubscribed, or they think they can turn off the half the network when everybody is at home after work wanting to surf the net!

Yes, I agree the problem only seems to be at night. Last night I disconnected at about 20:28. And up until then it was running smoothly.

It's currently very bad in Hatfield, Pretoria. Frequent disconnects (every few minutes, seconds even) and slow speeds. Had the same problem yesterday.

Guys sorry for the late reply but kinda swamped today

There is a problem in the PTA area that also affected Midrand(last night) , this is currently under investigation with our NMC department i will provide feedback

Let me blow my whistle from the side of Krugersdorp as well. Internet connections have been slower since late July '09.

I must say however that I don't think it's only Vodacom. I have noticed a similar situation on my friend's Telkom ADSL line. He keeps on phoning me and asking me why the Internet is so bloody slow. Well, needless to say, I don't know!

I just wish that someone in the know can explain to us once and for all what's up with the SEACOM connection. Are we utilizing the SEACOM connection now or is it only for Neotel customers at the moment? Does Vodacom still have a contract with Telkom and therefore not able to connect us via SEACOM!?

I also believe that Vodacom is doing some upgrades in the Gauteng area. What upgrades are these:confused:

To me it seems as we have moved somehow backwards since the launch of SEACOM, cause my Internet experience seem slower than before, especially at night from around 17:00 to about 00:00.

Yep, I think it's important to note that the problem is mostly after hours. During the day it's sort of OK, but as soon as it hits 17:00 it's basically useless.

This problem is not just in Pretoria, it's here in Krugersdorp as well. Specifically in the Rant-En-Dal suburb.

Before my 3G/HSPA connection used to go out on a weekly basis and only GPRS connections were possible(no Edge in our area). After many weekly calls to 155 it seems to be stable now. However, now we are sitting with the "After Hours Slowness" problem.

My speeds were fine until about 3 weeks agon, when my local base station lost 3G. It was repaired after about 36 hours, but since then my download speed has been way below what it used to be.

I used to get at least 2 Mbps, but this is the best I have been able to get:

Download Speed: 1756 kbps (219.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1140 kbps (142.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

All I get from VC is that they are "looking into the problem". I received one feedback call about two weeks ago, but that was it!

Hi

This is compared to what you were previously getting

Download Speed: 264 kbps (33 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 872 kbps (109 KB/sec transfer rate)

I then disconnected and reconnected and did another test:

Download Speed: 451 kbps (56.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 983 kbps (122.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

what speeds do you want to constantly get ?
