garyb01, have you tried using the 3g only profile? (an obvious one you way well have tried)

Is your sim card correctly "provisioned" for HSDPA? Phone VC customer support (155 I think) and request they check what your account is setup for. I think you just need to tell them the phone number associated with the sim.

What signal level are you getting?

I've also got an E620 card. They seem to be very twitchy if the tower is heavily loaded or otherwise misbehaving.

Yip, tried all of that and have full signal, etc etc. Just so frustrating! And if this thing is any more "twitchy" its going to "twitch" itself right out of the window! Can't remember when last I was so frustrated!!!!!!!!!

Seen lots of complaints in the MTN forum too.

Yes, I know, was on MTN up till about a week ago and found the speeds there to be very poor as well, but at least the connection was stable and didn't have to connect and reconnect umpteen times just to refresh a page or send a mail. You are in PE as well, so I am sure that you experiencing the same??

Still having major problems in Grahamstown. maybe related to the PE problems?

There are current problem in the Pretoria area. Busy getting more details.

Are you guys still seeing the problems in PE / Cape Town?
I think you should call Hugo at vodacom and ask him about vodashop in PE. Very funny story. Thanks for the help. My phone went back to JHB for the second time. So i will be waiting for another 2 to 3 weeks for the phone.
At least Hugo new what the problem was and is trying to sort things out for me.
Motorola v360 and edge do not mix.

Glad that you're getting somewhere at last. Was it still the wrong firmware on the phone? PM me the skinner story....;)

In any case, still seeing connectivity / throughput issues in PE?

Hey V3G :(

Big issues and problems mate, really frustrating! Keeps on losing connection, no or slow speeds! Please J, ask someone, anyone, to look into it. Thanks Mate, Cheers!

Still slow. On my 6680 with -89 dBm of signal on speed.vodacom.co.za gives 95 kbits/sec. During the speed test all traffic stopped for about 2 seconds and then continued again.
Iburst speed test gives 111 kbits/sec.

Ping results as follows: www.telkom.co.za gives 2 pings at about 200 ms, the 3rd ping times out, the last one gives 1600 ms.
Pinging www.vodacom.co.za gives 2 pings of around 190 ms, the 3rd ping times out and the last ping is 760 ms.
Pinging www.xe.com gives 2 pings of around 560 ms, and then the last 2 pings time out.

Is it correct to assume then that packet loss is giving the bad speed?

Having quite a few problems, GPRS is basically unusable, 3G's ok but constantly losing signal. Getting error 619 a lot too, is that your problem?

Mine's been out since last night, 3G either gets 619's or connects but then no response (looks like a DNS issue?).

GPRS is OK, reasonably fast, have not used it in ages.

Towers: Scottsville Pietermaritzburg (last night) & Bishopstowe Pitermaritzburg (now, this morning).

I've been getting ppp link errors this week. It usually connects on redial.

Also had problems since yesterday afternoon till this morning - couldn't connect with VC at all - had to use my VM sim card to get onto the net.

I was also getting PPP link errors.

Reloads, refreshes and asking for the same thing many times

In Cape Town, CBD - the past week has been a shocker- speeds have been crawling, i often have to refresh the page i am trying to reach twice before it loads. And more often than not i have to restart everything after the signal remains connected but there is nothing happening - time outs, page not found.

Anyone else experiencing ?

Just got a call from someone at Vodacom to say the problem has been resolved in the last half an hour or so but I don't have my laptop here to test it, are there still problems?
