This problem continues day after day for a month now, we dont get any response from Vodacom. This is by far the worst service I have ever recieved from and company in SA.

I really dont see why we should pay vodacom for services not met.

Yesterday afternoon i connected to HSDPA to download something. I couldnt. I could connect, but that's just about it. I didnt even bother to go on the evening, as i know i would have been wasting precious megs(which i already have too little of).

I rather went to go and spend QT with the girlfriend :p

Thought Voda would have this sorted out by morning but not so. Can now connect with 3G again but same problem as yesterday. Connect, surf for 5 minutes, then pages start showing up blank again. Disconnect, Connect, Disconnect, Connect ..... Voda can not seriously expect customers to sit around all day clicking, disconnect, connect just to get work done. I feel sorry for people who have to do Internet banking today ... what if you hit one of the blank pages during a transaction ... that could really be quite bad.

V3G .... what is actually going on? Something is very eish.

The only 'information' I can find on Vodacom's web site (under news section), is the resignation of their chief financial officer. I would've expected Vodacom to post some information wrt to the current mess there.

I have dropped itweb a news tip pointing them at this thread. Hopefully some coverage from the media will get Vodacom to make some official statement.

// 22 disconects and reconnects at this point - 155 wasn't especially helpful

Well, it's still the same problems as I posted before with the relevant time-frames. The first upgrades to resolve the can't connect/disconnect problem is going in on Saturday night.

The other internal upgrades are all complete, but it looks like the effect is being masked by the two major problems, (1)the disconnect and (2) the slow international throughput issues.

Can this get posted in the announcement section as well? I do however see it is not getting too much attention in terms of views.

Hi V3G .... Sorry never saw your post before with the time-frames. Is there no way to speed this process up, a Friday could not be a worse day for these problems, hardly anyone can do Internet Banking safely or reliably with conditions like these. My wife is one such person that cannot do her Internet Banking today. Can the upgrades not be done Saturday morning instead of Saturday night, I for one would rather have no access than bad access. I have several weeks worth of work to catch up on from the problems that are ongoing for almost 10 weeks now? Was planning to do so this weekend but that now sounds like a pipe-dream.

its quite futile complaining about this situation here. . . someone needs to get it picked up by the newspapers. . .once its general public knowledge it will hurt vodacom way more. maybe then they'll act. and i highly doubt you will wake up on sunday morning to fixed internet either.

A month .... you are lucky ..... I have this ongoing for about 10 weeks now. All sorts of problems, then they clear up for a day and then they are back. The problems since yesterday are different and from the error messages I started receiving yesterday seems firewall/netcache related.

Yeah, the guys are all out playing poker and having a good time...

Seriously, do you really believe no-one in not doing anything? Everyone from the CEO to the takkies hitting the tar is not doing their utmost to resolve this?

The news systems that are going in don't come from a shelf in Pick 'n Pay, they take many months to design, develop and construct (a process that did start many months ago, btw.) and installing them is a very complex process as it needs to happen in a live network. Have you ever tried to change a piston in your car? - while the engine is running?

So there are two major activities going on:

1) On Disconnects - Upgrades and installation of new kit. A fair amount of this has already happened and will continue over the next 2 to 3 weeks. As stated, these upgrades are not a knee-jerk. They've been planned a long time ago but was delayed due to specific circumstances we could not control. This is happening as we speak, but will take a few days.

2) On Low International Throughput - Capacity upgrades not happening in requested time-frames or not being available at all. The guys are doing their utmost to find solutions for this, including constructing new sites where bandwidth is available.

You say the first of the upgrades. Is this likely to resolve the problem or are more needed. I have until Sunday to get my mate up and running and he cannot afford to be offline.

And it is certainly a massive task with Vodacom's 20 odd million subscribers.

I have no doubt that there must be serious goings-on at Vodacom at the moment. I am also quite sure Telkom is not helping by dragging their feet providing more bandwidth to Vodacom. Well ... keep us updated. I think it's a weekend for Videos and No Internet.

There are quite a few and they're geographic. I'm not sure on the roll-out plan, but would expect they'll start where the most pain is. Where are you / your friend?
