Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

Today the entire day has been an absolute disaster on the Voda network. For the 1st time ever I have been experiencing disconnections, 619 errors and 633 errors.

Although familiar with alot of other users out there, these glitches are all new to me. One thing's for sure, the speeds are never consistent but two things I've always been able to rely on are impressive Vodacom speed test results and connectivity undisturbed and always online (until today that is).

Voda's reached new lows today and I hope it doesn't degrade further cause then I will be cancelling my contract 2 year or not...

Well it seems that my problems are now resolved.

I just spoke to my brother in London for 27 minutes on Skype. It did get a bit thin on occasion, but that is to be expected with 3G speeds (and a Windowze update chugging allong in the background).

Well it seems that I spoke to soon. My connection dropped at about 9pm last night and was not up by 1:30 when I went to bed. Logged a call with 155. I have not tested yet today as I am at work.

We will see what happens when I get home in about 30 mins.

PS: That call is about 7MB, so at 30c/MB it works out to R2.10. A lot cheaper than calling on a landline...

Am I the only one having major issues?

I see many of you complaining about speed and latency, but am I the only one with major issues? I connect and can visit pages for about 3-5 minutes - after that point every page says 'not available' and I need to disconnect and reconnect :/

Anyone else have that this afternoon?

Connected fine, browse for a little bit and then zero throughput. I have to disconnect, get one obligatory 619 and then have to reconnect and then the process starts again.

The speed has been a bit better than it has been the past few days but i can rarely maintain a connection for 5 minutes.

No you are not the only one. The "internet" apn seems very problematic since this afternoon. You can connect browse for a few minutes and then pages show up blank or you get "page cannot be found".

dont even begin, with 4 cards with non IT people, as designated CTO my thoughts are to move to a desert island to get some peace.

Where about are you Stix? I'm experiencing the exact same symptons, to the minute!!! Been like that for most of the day...

This is BS!

Not only are you guys (VODACOM) taking my data back, which I bought with MY money, every 30 days, you now make it impossible for me to connect on most nights when I get home?

I live in the Bryanston area (close to main & IS), browse for a second or two, and the the dreaded 'Not available...' pages in firefox and the connection goes down again.

If it's not that, then I can't get a connection at all. This isn't right and if it's not resolved by the time this bundle expires (10th Sept) I am off to iBurst to live with their own problems, at least then when they ARE up I don't have to worry about having a data bundle expire or lapse.

1 x very unhappy customer!

Yup I just hit this again as well at 19:40. Connection says it is on, but I can't access any sites. Disconnected and reconnected and i'm able to access sites again.

Repeated "Server not found / Server Reset" problems in Hennopspark, Centurion area ... again.

Download Speed = 321 kbps
Upload Speed = 353 kbps ... I should be sitting on the other side of my connection.

I have to kill and restart my connection over and over to even get this message done :mad:

Browsing has been terrible tonight, I'll have a torrent downloading at 200k but wont be able to load pages until I reconnect

internet APN is slow as crap ... and to top it all off, iBurst also went for a ball of snot, and I NEED the internetvpn APN ... and now it doesn't work!!

F@CK this is frustrating!

No you are not the only one. I've had this problem since friday and have resorted to browsing on my cell. Funny thing is, even though the pages in Opera mini average 100kBs, this problem stil persists. I think I've got about 800megs left and I won't be able to finish it at this rate :( obviously, this will be my last bundle purchase until vodacom sorts this mess out

Been very up and down for me as well. At 7:30 I could not connect, but later-on I had to restart (twice) for windoze updates and then I could connect after that.

Currently (9pm) at:
Download Speed: 354 kbps (44.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 55 kbps (6.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
