Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

I must say, I'm still having issues.

No disconnects or anything, but the connection just goes dead for about or 3 minutes then picks up again for a few minutes.

If I have something like MIRC or MSN open before the connection drops, they stay open and connected, but I can't seem to initiate new connections to anything for awhile.
Anyone else experiencing something similar?

PS: I hope for your sake that your contract does get cancelled - you can always buy your own HSDPA modem and use pre-paid at some point in the future...

Here i am :D

Seriously I am in the Eastern Cape. I wouldnt want my contract cancelled if it would just work the way it is supposed to & advertised. As per my previous posts I am happy with the connections I got last night if it keeps up I wouldnt have any problems.

Wow, looks like VC finally did something about the ppdb 3G/HSDPA network instability.
It's the first time I hit the > 1000kbps download speed ... so i'm thinking about forgiving vodacom for the recent problems ... please note THINKING ....

Now lets monitor and see if they can keep it up....
 
More results (above done on contract Sim WRT router & external antenna)

Below done on PPDB Sim notebook builtin card (Dell)

3. 470/263 475ms
4. 409/134 555ms
 
What happened last night. Couldnt connect, couldnt browse, couldnt do anything to do with internet...as usual...

From Midrand (very strong signal;)) using E220:

1 - Download Speed: 1633 kbps (204.1 KB/sec transfer rate) / Upload Speed: 355 kbps (44.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

2 - 616/273 287ms
3 - 485/77 528ms
4 - 394/75 602ms

That's why you always have to analyse speed tests.

I break out in Cape Town and normally get ~1M to the speedtest.net server in Cpt.

So, it seems there is a local congestion on their side at the moment or on the peering link between them and SAIX.
 
VC - 362/56
CPT - 339/53 307ms
NY - 362/55 543ms
LON - 361/53 608m

I've never seen these speeds before since I started using "3g". It's been like this for about 30hrs now with 1 disconnect - hope it lasts
 
I confirm PE connection still sucking, maybe Vodacom forgot about the Eastern Cape…

I've done the first test a few times in the last week and the download numbers varied between 321 kbps and 1477 kbps. The last three tests over the last four days have all been around 1400 kbps. I have not kept proper records to give you exact details unfortunately.

This was the first time I did the last three tests on your list.

I do however still get frequent "server disconnect" errors.

fyi: yesterday I had many problems connecting (619 errors, or apparently connected but no received traffic at all), and some problems with the session hanging, but I was able to work.

Today ... *touches everything* it's been running fine. Easy to connect, has stayed up, has been relatively fast.

E220, prepaid, Midrand.
 
I am having the same issues in Centurion at the moment - 619 all over the place when trying to connect to 'internet' and 'internetvpn' apn.

vodacom4me also VERY slow...
